Show Stage Gets LD Onceover EDITORIALS Responsibility for any unaccredited sentiments expressed on the editorial page rests with the editor. W. C. Finally Makes Move After almost a complete school year of procrastination, the Hoard of Control of Weber College has unanimously voted to seek membership in the National Students Association. The delay has not been due to apathy on the part of our leaders, but more due to the fact that there has been too much to do within our own school government. As a studentbody we can be happy that the officers have finally made the move. The NSA is an international organization for colleges and universities. This means that we will be a member of an organization which will help students from all over the world solve their various problems. Weber is a growing school, and in the future will be much larger, thus we will gain more power in student affairs. With improved methods of communication and travel the world is fast becoming just one big neighborhood. We are striving for world peace with what seems to be nothing but futile effort. The thing which is necessary for this peace is the complete understanding of all the countries of the world. Wars will not give us this understanding. We must gain it by knowing the p'-oblems of our fellow nations. And not only knowing them but helping them solve the problems. The NSA offers this opportunity. We will not have the chance to decide the issues of importance which face the world now, but we will have the chance to get to know the future leaders of the world, their governments, and problems. Through this relationship, we will be better equipped to take over the positions of leadership left by our elders. The NSA has regular seminars where member institutions get together to make decisions and solve problems. The delegates are taken to all parts of the world for these conventions. The services offered by this immense organization are far too numerous to mention here, with Weber seeking membership we will have access to all this. A vote of thanks is due the Studentbody Officers for their decision to join NSA. Weber Finds Water Fine L. D.'s assembly, built around the history of an old stage, was executed last week with a great deal of polish. The stage decided it was being opened by getting remodeled, especially by tap-dancing carpenters, and painters who would rather dig in old trunks and re-enact ami old niello-dramas. Carried back into time, the old stage showed the audience a song and dance routine by some old time bloomer girls. The audience saw a performance by the bare bathing beauties of the l!)20's. Their knees actually showed! The stage reached back into its memory and recalled the year that "Night Gown Game" was produced on its stage. And the audience was entertained by singing and dancing "sleepy time Gals." The old stage spent some time in the past, but when it had received its final coat of paint and been adorned with flowers from dancing bell girls, it decided the future looked pretty good. Several new faces were seen at Board of Control Monday, the faces of our new student body officers for 1957-58. From now on these people will be present at the meetings so that they can get a picture of the goings on and learn how. to conduct the meeting. They will find out that there will be much to be done in the hour long sessions held at the first of each week. They will find that their problems will be many and varied. DESPITE THE CRY OF "CLUBBING" and "coalitions," the people elected were of top quality and should be expected to turn out some high quality work for us next year. For those still won-ying about the power concentration of a club in our student government, you may rest at ease, there will be no power concentration. There could be, but common sense and the presence of good judgment will prevail. To try to exercise a strong arm in a government such as that of Weber College would be a gross mistake on the part of the leaders. THE PEOPLE who are at the helm of the WC ship are of the necessary stock to make the coming school year one of success. There need be no fear of partiality. Those who are elected to these high positions have too many important things to worry about during the year to be bothered with such things as club favoritism. This can be seen 'when one surveys the present office holders. Favoritism could have been shown many times this year, but it hasn't. Decisions coming from Board of Control have been very fair and have considered the studentbody as a whole, no faction has ever dictated. OUR NEW LEADERS face a great responsibility. That of handling the affairs of the complete studentbody of Weber College. By Malin F. Foster This is no small job and will take much work and sacrifice on the part of each. As before mentioned, you, the students have shown extremely good judgment in choosing your officers. They have shown in the past that they can handle responsible positions, and they will not let us down now. THE OFFICERS, however, do not have the full responsibility of making the next school year a success. Half of this rests upon the shoulders of the students. The Board of Control may plan fine functions for you but if you do not support them their efforts will have been in vain. They may pass decisions on school problems, but if these decisions are not honored by you they will be of no value to anyone. To sum it up, this means that the Board of Control must have the complete support of the studentbody, or it will not be able to succeed. Regardless of club affiliations or anything else, it is your duty to get behind these people and uphold the standards they set for you. WHEN IN NEED OF SERVICE JUST PHONE 2-0424 . . .
