The Legislature appropriated $300,000 for the task force over the next year. Waddoups said that the Legislature can reappropriate if necessary for the second year. Waddoups introduced SB 61 as a way to address issues raised by former 1HC patients, doctors and other members of the public who felt like IHC wasn't carrying its load. "There are five other corporations not giving charitable care that are a part of IHC," Waddoups said. That is one issue the task force will need to address. The task force formed by SB 61 will examine several core issues in Utah's integrated health care systems. "The task force will look at quality, cost and access in our state," Cowleysaid. SB 61 includes other issues in the study. Legislators may use the results of this study to propose new laws regarding Utah's health care. "Weber State University students may have more choices for where they get their health insurance," Waddoups said. The exploratory process is beginning.
