Show Page 6 SIGNPOST April 10, 1964 On the Sidelines By Leon Brace Weber State College's track and field team is having a rough time getting in shape for the current season. The Wildcat track is still wet and forced postponement of last Saturday's meet with the University of Utah until April 15th in Ogden. Because of this the Cat's cindermen were forced to pai'ticipate in another unofficial dual indoor meet with Utah State in Logan. The Wildcat baseball team is also looking forward to its next home game, after it plit a doubleheader last Monday at the Affleck Park. Spring football at WSC will begin April 13 with practice sessions set for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 4 p.m., and Saturday at 10 a.m. Head Coach Wally Nalder reports that 50 candidates for the 1964 Wildcat Varsity will be scrambling to fill some big holes left by this spring's graduation. Sixteen lettermen will be missing from the 1964 squad and most of them could be missed! Biggest losses are all-conference players, and Lynn Corbridge, quarterback Lynn Smith, tackles Ron Trussel and Jim Hassell, and halfback Frank Kaaa. Although these men will be missed, the 1964 Weber State team will return 15 letter-men, with 30 sophomores from the freshmen team and four junior college transfers battling for starting positions. Returning regulai's include end Dennis Anderson from Ogden, fullback Frank Bentley from Sunset, guard Jay Gardner from Ogden, punter Lyle Johnston of Hooper, guard Larry Mitchell of Layton, halfback Dick Pruitt from Las Vegas, Nev., and center Steve Yamoguchi from Price. Others with playing experience who are expected to show are: guard Mike Adams, tackle Bruce Gordon, end Rod Leslie, fullback Les Ogden, halfback Bob Shaw, tackle John Butterfield, as well as two former Wildcats who played two years ago who also returned for the action. They are Blair Taylor, fullback, and Steve Hodson, end.
