The fabu lous Las Vegas entertainer Jim- i f my Judd, will pre Mr. Affleck sent f very interesting intermission show. Ned Mortenson's Band from Utah State will render the music, which is the best dancing music you will find in the state: Anyone who is desireous of a tremendous evening should make sure to be there. Congratulations to the winners of the float competition. The work was well done. Sigrna's A team beat Excels A, Monday, by a socre of 13 to 0. Keep it up, fellas, maybe you can get pro contracts. I understand they need good players in the pro leagues. It's about time to sign off since my teacher is getting a little bit mad. So, until next week; as always, Fred Peabody P.S. There are no cuts this week due to unavoidable incidents, Excels didn't have a column last week. ; . f. 4 i i j Frustration Over Congrats, Excels It seems rather different to return to books and studying after the last week of fun, frustration, blueprints, . and carpentry labs. Now homecoming is over and O.T. has added another trophy to our trophy case. It was well worth the smashed lingers and acute cases of pneumo-. nia we suffered in the process of building our prize winning float, we want to congratulate our bros Excels for taking , - ,j first place, in the ; j men's division, & 'm Sonimers ' S h a r m e a and Phoenix for placing second, and offer our condolences to Sigma, T.K. and the Spi . . . er . . . sailors How about a celebration Excels? Maybe tonight at the Club Flamingo. The "second' rush''' season has begun and plans for ours taking place the first week of November are well under way. Chairman, Evalyn Hobbs, and her committees are busy making plans and arrangements. We'd like to compliment L.D. on their successful rush this week and wish success to all clubs on campus with their rush parties. P.S. Sigma: Since when does it come in purple? Float Wins 3rd Award By Ron Conners After two weeks of hard work by rushees and members of Excels we were awarded the trophy for the winning float, last Saturday at the dance, for the third consecutive year. Thanks to Harry Campbell, member, and Stacey Goodliff, rushee, who took charge of the designing, construction and decorating. The Club furnished refreshments the night before the parade so every body would stay around to finish the float, but the refreshments lasted quick so the float had to be completed early Saturday morning. Congratulations to O.T. who also won first place their division. Last Monday the alumni team from Sigma edged by the Excels entry in football, by a score of 13 to 0. Congratulations are in order to L.D. for the success they had at their second rush Tuesday night, to Sigma for the car show they presented during the parade last Saturday along with their p.or7 table water fountain that almost floated their float; to Mike Farrell for keeping his promise to Nancy about Phoenix using the "W" (that we built last year), on their float this year, and bo O.T. for having the courage to endure the forces of nature at the rain - soaked ball-game two weeks ago. Planning is well under way for our Second Rush to be held1 at the Oak Ridge Country Club on November 3. Rushees interested should support all club and school functions and activities to better their chances of being invited. Club meetings are held each Wednesday in room 413 at no later than 12:10 touching her head in wonder-$250,000. After all, not many people have had such a high price on their heads. Ruth Walsh and Dixie Stanger have been seen plotting together. We think that those handsome hired helpers have got something to do with it. The profs tried to keep this week as lively as last. Every other one gave an exam every day. ug there' goes our 4 point. Anyway Sigma had a good week for the "Flamingo". Everybody, except Sig. land the students could stay home and sleep and get ready for the fab. affair which will climax this exciting (?) week. We hear rumors that it's to be good. We'll see you at the bird refuge. A tout a 1'heure, ' The "Frenchies" P.S. Let's hope the printer doesn't get my mordis wixed or the lined twists this time - I don't need any help in fouling out. Profs, President Prod . . Study. Study, Study By Linda Monk Bonjouf! C'est si boh! After last week we are content to settle back and study (when we are not working on our second rush or playing, which is most of the time), Slave-driver Jill says that a 4 point is the good word this quarter. We're trying to tee the line, but it's so-io hard. O.T. and Excels' should be commended on their first place winners in the homecoming parade. Phoenix also showed its colors when it placed second in the men's division. Needless to say, we have no complaints about placing second in women's division. Frances Carr was appointed destroyer of our pink 'covered wagon' She started on it alone, but now she has some hired help. She isn't . complaining about it, even if they are convicts. She says they are more experienced. Karen Winterbottom is still Library, Place Of Inspiration .... 0 By Larry Peer Tears of joy flow freely as this proud mother thinks of the greatest club on campus . . . Phoenix. We wish great heaps of . congratulations on those units who spent time and effort on Homecoming week. The parade was tremendous; I especially liked the green float with the club's composite I.Q. revolving around. L.D.'s "Golden Riot" proved to be just that, and in the process of building it Elaine Parker proved to be all wet. Unfortunately, the Wildcats couldn't be quite as dirty as Boise, so we lost. Oh well, I hear Dixie plays according to the rules. Good luck, team. While writing this honorable column in the library, I noticed Jens Traeden readen "Simplified Danish Grammer." Sitting next to him was Jack Minnoch reading "How to Graduate from College in Fifteen Easy Years." Linda Stromberg was asleep. Kent Pantone was reading his English 81 text; upside down. What an intellectual group. Someone was laughing laudly but all I saw was green breath. Congratulations to the following members of Phoenix who were honor roll students for Spring quarter. Joe Wise, Larry Peer, Steve Hess, Jens Traeden and Dave Pratt. Gary Barclay serves us as Intramural manager and Jens , Traeden and Larry Peer are Interclub representatives. Dave Pratt gives Phoenix advice to AMS and Dick Diamond wants to be on AWS council. Dick Miller will serve a mission for his church, and Phoenix wishes him health and luck. In closing, Sydney must say, lets all support "Club Flamingo," and don't forget the Snowball in December. The last thought for this week eminating from the land of milk and honies may be quoted as follows; "Cheat until caught, then lie." Sydney Gynt II Successful Rush By Nancy Stanfield The Swabbies of LaDianaeda hosted a gala evening for 52 rushees last Tuesday. Our Second Rush Party was a wonderful success and we enjoyed spending "The Holidays" with these darling freshmen. Sure is nice to see those shiny white pearls around. Thanks to darling Santa Allan, you were terrific! Sick or not, the true blue Sailors came out Sunday to see that Oliver had his eight legs and that the stockings were ready to be hung. One of the lockers in building four had the bad disease last week: Internal Balloonitis. But if you think that's bad, you ought to see Loretta Chambers chopping down fir trees. L.D. wishes sincere congratulations to Excelsior and Otyokwa for their float victories. It was fun just trying, and till next Homecoming, you'll find us at the alter making sacrifices to the Wind God. Thanks to those swell guys in Sigma and Phoenix who helped us on our entry. ....Thanks also to Ivar, who donated his blue Cadillac convertible to L.D. in exchange for dates with Janet and Pete. Jelaire is now serving her term in the Army because we didn't get the float bed back in time. Oh well, maybe in her travels she'll see Pennv and Linda - they skipped town with the Miss Universe Crown. "Good luck thought for Sigma; Stamp Out Deer Hunting and Support the Flamingo!" Day In Court Offered Students Students who feel they got a "raw deal" from campus traffic officers can have their day in court; Milton R. Mecham, Chairman of traffic courts, said today. Mr. Mecham said traffic court will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in room 144 of building one. appeal forms are available at the Treasurer's office. He also stated that the main cause of traffic violations was students driving cars without Decals. U. S. Navy Band Coming to Ogden The United States Navy Band conducted by Commander Charles Brendler will be in the Ogden High School auditorium November 4, to present a musical program to the people of Ogden. A matinee performance will be given at 1 p.m. followed, on the same day, by an evening performance at 8:30 p.m. This is one presentation under the lecture series and students will be admitted on their activity cards. |
