Queens Vie for Royal Title By Joanne Cliften Patsy Pollard, Peggy Wood, and Peggy Thomas have been chosen by Phoenix members as contestants for their "Sweetheart" to reign over the Snowball dance which they are sponsoring Dec. 17, at 9 p. m. in the college ballroom. HAPPY HOLIDAY The Snowball is an annual, traditional dance and the selection of a Phoenix queen has been a long standing feature. Phyliss Parker was chosen last year and Lou Jean Gibby in 1946. Will Be Honored The girls are selected for their honor on merits ' of personality, charm and friendliness. The winner will be presented with a locket during the intermission by President H. A. Dixon, and she will be honored during the year as the club "Sweetheart." She will also attend the annual banquet of club members after the dance which is also a traditional affair. Decorations Students will descend the stairs fix- Peggy Thomas Labor Pledges Ai In Four-Year Drive Organized labor is solidly behind the Weber college expansion drive, student representatives were told Monday by Utah Labor leaders at a meeting in the Ogden Labor Temple. Invited to observe the meeting "to get familiar with labor procedure," the students saw firsthand the way labor unions operate. Aid Drive Local labor leaders stated that labor will aid the Weber college in its drive for a four-year college.Student leaders, commenting on the meeting, stated that the meeting was very educational. They said that students should interest themselves in the local labor procedures. Eight Attend Those attending the labor meeting were Lawrence Burton, graduate and publicity manager of the college, Phyllis Parker, Martha Graham, Jack Critchlow, Thair Blackburn, Alan Johnson, all board of control members, and Lee Lalli and Patsy Pollard. ;:y:';;:-:i':": Peggy Wood to the ballroom through an "igloo." Everyone will then enter the ballroom through a large snowball at the top of the stairs. Large revolving snowballs will reflect the red and blue ceiling lights of the decorations for the ballroom. All three girls competing for the "Sweetheart" have been active in college activities. Peggy Thomas has a winning smile and is very charming. She is the freshman representative to the board of control. Queen's Attendant Everyone knows Peggy Wood for her sweet personality. Patsy Pollard, an outstanding pianist, was also an attendant to the homecoming queen. She has a sincere, friendly attitude at all times. The dance will be a formal affair with Loyal West's orchestra providing the music. General Chairman Ralph Call is the general chairman, with Lee Lalli, Neil Hess and Wilford Schmidt, committee heads.
