Couples Among My Souvenirs Connie Backhand and Grant Reese Connie is taking Grant to the Girl's dance, but he is still among her souvenirs. Let's see there is one in about 25 that she is c-r-a-z-y about, he's from Salt Lake City. And an airplane pilot from only knows, she's wearing his bracelet. And still she's going steady with some por soul at Weber. What a gal! Because of You Margaret Dewey Carlos Critehlow Margaret doesn't make any bones about the fact that 'Cork' means just about everything to her yes, because of him she has gone steady with "said party" for about three years. Angel Mary Lou Madson We don't know why but we are wondering where Tony B. acquired a certain pin. And just where V. Hadlock fits into the picture or Blaine Felt. A Million Dreams Ago Loyal No Explaination Needed So You're the One Emma and Gloria You Forgot About Me Gloria and Blair Yes, both song and all the names are soft of coagulated. Practice Makes Perfect Sophie Reed M. Richards Grant Hepworth Bettie Davis (West Central almost any afternoon at four.) Yes, it's new, Helen was with Eugene B. Friday night and we aren't exactly aware of well Blair probably wasn't studying. We Three Vivian S. Allen Shupe Betty S. It's an established fact that V. S. and Betty S. have declared war. It's every gal for Shupe. We are a bit curious as to which one succeeded in conscripting the man. It All Comes Back to Me Now Evelyn Anderson and Whitey From a reliable source we learn that Evelyn is going with W. who came back to her now well we tried. Maybe Kay Crockett and Marian We can't say much more because we aren't sure just what Marian it is. May I Never Love Again Ellen G. Athalene C. The letters from P. J. C. have stopped, but both girls are doing fine. We can't think of any more songs except: Happy Days Are Here Again Winslow and Louise. Frank B. and Tom Toyne find O. H. S. much more interesting territory. Jay H. popular young basketball player just doesn't go out well he's not the only one. Spence Loughten and Dorthy J. certainly picked up where they left off. He couldn't stay in Cal. cause D. J. was in Ogden, most beautiful city in Utah. (paid adv.) And in line with our policy of making predictions we stick out our neck enough to predict that Lois Peterson will win Tyrone Power's nod as the loveliest Excelsior Sweetheart and that the female population of Weber wiil pick an unaffiliated, non-office-holding sophomore as their choice as the most desirable companion. We think that this means VaNyle Evans, but we could be wrong. TYPICALLY AMERICAN The most beautiful clothes in the world are now created by American designers. We proudly present a group of outstanding new spring fashions that you'll adore ... in the new American tradition . . . and in our own tradition of style and quality at lowest prices. Prices Ranging From $398 to $ 1 795 BROWN'S APPAREL pi Beauty Is Dream Of Each And Every Gal BY RUTH CARVER Beauty is admittedly or secretly the goal, the desire, and the dreams of every girl. It is, also, to most girls something that can be acquired only through diligent effort on her part. Beauty, of course, is the result of a lovely skin, a charming personality, good posture, and other things, but the importance of beautiful hair in creating a lovely appearance cannot be over emphasized. It must be remembered that adequate care of the hair involves more than merely combing it each morning, "putting it up" on the nights when you aren't too tired, and shampooing it when you happen to have time. It means, first of all, that the hair and scalp must be kept clean. A thorough shampooing with a good castiie soap every two weeks is absolutely essential. The secret of abundant, lustrous locks is daily massaging and brushing. Using a stiff brush and putting a lot of muscle behind it. Brush vigorously up and out until every inch of the scalp tingles with new life. Last, but not least, be immaculate. Never let your hair have an "off" day. Keep it well-groomed and attractive by resetting it as often as necessary, whether it be once a week or every day, for remember that every minute of every day you are being watched and judged by all with whom you come in contact. Rusty Explains Masculine Fear Of Formals BY ARDELL RUSSELL So, you're a boy and you aren't overly fond of all these formal dances; except for the bare fact that all defective underpinnings are ellaborately covered with literally yards of acetate, silk or a million and one other coleaborations. But this isn't explaining why formal dances make your collars just a little tight. The first, and probably the main difficulty, is in choosing the 'corsage.' You probably don't have the slightest idea of what the clang color she's going to wear. If we had a law passed whereby every young female would wear only white evening dresses the males' problem would be solved; but statistics show that only one out of 10 does wear white so you boys have one chance In 10, to send any flower and not have it look like a mild form of surrealistic art. It all adds up to: the flowers either make or break a perfect evening so with the help of Henrietta Ripperger and the biased opinions of Weber's coeds, the following suggestions are being made, which you may take, but probably won't: First: Either telephone or in casual conversation, or through some girl friend find out what she (your date) is to wear. And if you can't find out send her gardenias. Always right with any color, gardenias are the impeccable choice of the boy who's been around, when he doesn't know what his date is wearing. Camellias Next: Camellias; In glowing pink these are gorgeous on white, navy, black, brown, or light blue. They'll even go with a clear yellow. Like orchids, camellian arehigh-hat-yet not quite so high priced. Orchids? Well, they sound wonderful, and it's fun to get your first, but that lavender kills other colors. Be sure the gown of the evening isn't peach, or red, or Mm mlwL One of the above Weber coeds will be introduced at Excelsior's Sweetheart ball tomorrow night as Tyrone Power's choice for the official "Sweetheart" of the evening. They are, top row,! left to right, Caroline Smnin, Betty Smalley, Jean Young, Donna Marie Cur-ran, and Lois Peterson. Lower, Sophie Reed, and Barbara Greenwell. Faculty Slates Annual Dinner Weber College Faculty are having their annual Semi-Formal dinner, Friday, February 14, as a prelude to Excelsior's Sweetheart ball. The faculty members will meet in the Lion room of Dick's cafe for dinner after which they will go to the last half of the basketball game and then to an evening of dancing. Mr. Orlo Childs is chairman. green. Browns, black, white, or soft blues are necessary to blend with them. Other flowers flatter much more however; no, they just aren't worth what they cost! Carnations Pink or white carnations? These make up "perfectly adorable corsages," and are awfully flattering. They're crisp and fresh looking and do a lot for a crepe or chiffon dress that has gone a bit stringy. Well now, roses, sweet peas, mixed posies, they are generally considered sweet and lovely but they have a tendency to look droopy along about the last round of a dance. The roses with gardenias are lovely, however, or maybe even roses alone may suffice risking that last rose of summer look. And last but not least: The corsages needn't be expensive. (Confidentially as long as they're flower?, and the right color) we think they ar just what we wanted. ALL READY FOR COLLEGE STUDY! Eyeglasses correctly prescribed and flatteringly fitted are as important as clothes ! Get them here at prices attuned to coed budgets. Eyes examined, lenses duplicated. It is adorned with pictures of seven lovely girls. Some students even pause for a second look. Dynamic in personality and In sense of humor is Carol Smuin, a freshman who hails from Ogden high. Next in line with her friendly smile and delightful personality comes Donna Marie Cur-ran, president of Otyokw'a. Donna Marie is about school enough that she has a cheery hello for everybody and every one has a hello for her. Barbara Greenwell is a girl with beautiful traits and a personality that every other girl longs to possess. Betty Smalley, one of the members of last year's court, is again in there with that smile which every Weberite knows. From Ogden high comes Jean Young, who was known there for her personality and who comes to Weber bringing every bit as distinct and beautiful as she is herself. Follow ing comes Lois Peterson, a happy character with a charming smile, a typical college girl who was an attendant to the football queen-Charmingly small and delightful Sophie Reed, secretary and treasurer of the freshman class also is in the court ofhearts-and-sweet-hearts. A few of the many traits which these girls possess go to make up the traits that are ideal for sweethearts. One of the vivacious girls will reign in the court of Excelsior. Who It will be only Tyrone Power can answer. By Woodbury's NBC orchestra will furnish the romantic music for the Sweetheart ball, which will be held February 14, In the Weber ballroom. During intermission the sweetheart will be introduced by Excelsior's club president, James Whetton. She will receive a gold locket, ensconsced with the -lub insignia. Ogden firms Nyes, Samuels, and Smnlleys will donate gifts for the sweetheart and her attendants. Gentlemen Gals Cinderella Gets Wardrobe Addition Cinderella Maurlne Duffln received an addition to her wardrobe last Thursday noon at the Matinee dance, while Ross Eskelson was the lucky fellow who was the recipient of the pair of male oxfortia presented. The shoes Maurlne won, because they fit, were size 7A. The shoes are black suede of the mocassin type. They will probably be seen around the campus a lot in the near future or until they are worn out. Ross's shoes were brown, of a currently popular style and size. To Wow Fellows With Courtesy When a Weber boy is a gentleman, it is nothing unusual, but when a Weber coed is a gentleman, that is news. That is why everything is being changed for Charm week. During that week the girls will open the doors fo rthe boys; they will step aside and let the boys go first. In other words they will show the boys every courtesy that the girls usually enjoy. It is doubted that they will go to the limit of carrying the fellow's books, but aside from this one thing, they will have completely switched places. Dr. S. T. Dearden Optical Department C. C.
