S. The old Weber motto: "Watch our graduate, he has a reputation," has again proved true as is evidenced ty the recognition ' given Dr. Heber C. Hancock, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Hancock of this city. Dr. Hancock is an alumnus of Weber and is well known in Ogden. He was president of the student body in 'OS and took a prominent part in all school activities, especially athletics. He was one of the best track men in the state, holding the title of champion pole vaulter for a number of years. The following is the text of an appreciation of him contained in the columns of the Port Chester Daily Times : Among those to recently open offices in Port Chester for the practice of medicine and surgery is Dr. Heber C. Hancock, who has established himself at 246 Westchester avenue, where the late Dr. Charles Ryttenberg once had his office. Dr. Hancock is not a stranger in Port Chester, because for a year he was house surgeon at the United hospital and as such made many acquaintances here. A na- , JUNK Joe Brewer and father left last Friday for Chicago, where Joe will spend the next three weeks. Profiteering dates back to the whale that swallowed Jonah and got caught with an unreasonable prophet. Walt Stevenson has caught the characteristic Senior love fever. He is after the chicks now, especially the Fowles. There was no report handed in from the Freshman class for this issue. Wonder if the "greens" have wilted already. The presence of many girls at the inter-class basketball games sure put a lot of pep into the boys playing. Take Claude's showing, for instance. But then, who couldn't star if he had such a "backer" as Claude has? We are pleased to welcome back Prof. Peter Kasius, our popular instructor, who left us last year to join the navy. "Pete" will conduct classes in commercial law and will also coach the debating and oratory teams. After a number of weeks of strenuous effort the girls have nearly completed the plans for their big ball. This will be staged as soon as the ban on parties is raised. Remember, boys, this is for "women only." It is rumored that some enterprising Senior is doing a brisk business in periscopes. Nuff sed. There has been considerable discussion going on as to whether the school play, "The Lost Paradise," should be abandoned and a lighter one he chosen in its place. It is the concensus of opinion that it is somewhat heavy for amateurs and that a comedy dealiing with college life would be more suitable. A meeting of the cast will be called in the near future to decide the matter. Jack How fast can you knit? Lucy Oh, about SO knots an hour. KISSED POPCORN, oHlwayS Fresfl 4 10V2 25th Street tive of Utah, Dr. Hancock is a graduate of New York university and Bellevue Medical college. He received the bulk of his training at Bellevue and then came to the United hospital. Since his graduation he has specialized in various branches of medicine and surgery and a fitting tribute to his ability was recently paid in his appointment as physician and surgeon for the Russell, Burdsal & Ward Bolt and Nut Company, a position which was held up to the time of his death by Dr. Ryttenberg.Dr. Hancock is a member of the Port Chester Medical association and is rapidly enlarging his circle of acquaintances, all of whom wish him success in privatepractice. Who Was Shot and Who Was Nott A duel was lately fought in Texas by Alexander Shott and John S. Nott. Nott was shot, and Shott was not. In this case it was better to Shott than Nott. There was a rumor that Nott was not shot, but Shott avows that he was not, which proves either that the shot Shott shot at Nott was not shot, or that Nott was shot notwithstanding. It may be made to appear on trial that the shot Shott shot shot Not, or, as accidents with firearms are frequent, it may be possible that the shot Shott shot shot Shott himself, when the whole affair would resolve itself into its original element, and Shott would be shot and Nott would be not. We think, however, that the shot Shott shot shot, not Shott, but Nott. Anyway, it is hard to tell who was shot. Editor Are you the chump who wrote about the dance Friday? Reporter Yes. Editor Well, look at this: "Among the prettiest girls in the room was Frank Newman." Nice rubbish, that is. Don't you know that Frank is a boy? Reporter Sure; but that is where he was. They sat on the steps at midnight, But his love was not to her taste- His reach was thirty-six inches, While hers was a forty-six waist. "Did the play have a happy ending?""You bet it did! Some one in the gallery hit the villain square in the face with a tomato." Doxey I like your father; I think a great deal of him. Luella Well, I was under the impression that you liked someone around here, but I didn't think it was him. Doxey Yes, it is him. I like him so well that I'm going to ask him to be my father-in-law the very next time I sec him. ROYAL BARBER SHOP Haircut 25c Shave 15c Just as Good as Ever None Better 307 TWENTY-FOURTH ST. JZ?
