Dennisia Whisler senior reporter- The Signpost The Diversity Center is one of many assistance programs to help students make the most of their time at Weber State University. Other serv ices include Services for International Students. Services for M u 1 1 icu 1 1 u ral Students, Services for Students with Disabilities. Services for Women Students. Veterans Affairs and Gender Equity Technical Assitance Center. Each of these services have staff and counselors on hand to help students with their needs. The Diversity Center is currently in transition as WSU is choosing a new coordinator for the center.Jeneva Foster is the coordintor for student programs. Foster explained that the Diversity Center "celebrates diversity by presenting Weber State University as a global com munity." Also included in the mission statement of the center are the ideals of cultural respect and education, and also enhancement of culture and communtiy. The center is in Room 240 of the Shepherd Union Building and can be reached at 626-8032. The Veterns Affairs office, coordinated by John Vickroy, is in the lower level of the Miller Administration Building. Room 103. The office provides services for veterans in order to help them have a successful experience at WSU. It helps with academics, orientation for the university, and also help with documentation issues. More information is available by phone at 626-6039. Services for International Students is located in the Student Service Center, Room 143. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Friday. They have their own student orientation the Friday before each semester. Director Diann Stewart can be contacted at 626-6853. Services for Multicultural Students is also located in the Student Service Center, Suite 150. Their hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday. "We offer- students a place where they can hang out and do what they want," said Sarah Davis, a junior at WSU and receptionist for the center. Coordinated by Georgette Gonzalez, the office helps minority students register and obtain financial aid information and scholarships. The office also houses all the minority clubs and organizations headquarters. The mulitcultural senators also spend time in the office so students can come and discuss issues.
