September 1972 proved to be no exception. Mass pandemonium prevailed as thousands of students tried to find the right classes. The new Social Science building may have added some confusion to the situation, but even the old buildings have a way of adding to the calamity in the fall. As one goes about the job of t finding the right class in the right place, one can't help but overhear conversations like: "Hi Ron, I've got a class in the SS v. building now, and I had one of a time locating the AS building.""I know how you feel, Joe, I've missed my 9 a.m. class because I couldn't fine the $"! PS building." " Now before you stop reading and say that the abbreviations are in the beginning of the class catalog, stop and think how smoothly your class finding went. I had one class assigned to be held in the FA building at 9 v a.m. in room 456. Upon arriv ing at that destination I found one of the old 'familiar white signs saying sorry, your classroom has been changed. This room must really be popular because there were four notices of change on the door. - Well back to the tale of the missing class. The white paper stated that I was to proceed asap to the SS building and room 221. Fifteen minutes later I entered the west door of the SS building to come upon one of the most informative signs I've ever found on campus. Next to a stairway that goes only down (if you happen to be at the top) is a sign with an arrow pointing down and the sign f reads "downstairs." , I don't know if this is intend ed to help alleviate the problem of finding classes or not, but it is most informative. After four tours of the SS building I became aware that the even numbers are on one side of the building and the odd on the other. Rather trickey for an institution of higher learning, I'd say. Soon I came upon a door marked 221. I slowly opened the door to ease the embarassment of being late only to find out that room 221 is a broom closet. After inquiring a little fur- RESEARCH MATERIALS All Topics Send for your descriptive, up-to-date, 128-page, mail order catalog of 2,300 quality research papers. Now I in no way intend to offer any solutions regarding room assignment procedures because I can imagine how difficult it is to assign the same room to four classes at the same time. I would like to thank those who do their best at room assigning and say thanks for adding a little something extra to my college education that is not covered in the $135 fee. If it was in my power to do so, I would present the room assigner with an award, but I can't find the right office.
