Show September 25, 1964 SIGNPOST Rushing Hints Suggestions for Rushing are often vagve and of little use, especially for the nervous rushee. However, there are a few ways which one may influence club members. Always be friendly and aware of school functions. Friendliness to everyone, no matter how little you know the person, or whether the person is in a club, is very important. You never know if that person knows someone you would like to impress or if a club member is watching you. But friendliness is something that you must feel and understand. Something that comes from you because its there and not because you're looking for impressions. Avoid stating preferences to a certain club or other opinions of clubs until after the week o f Rush. You may find that the club you were interested in when you began Rush is not the one you particularly wish to join after the three nights are over. If you have already stated a preference, (and word spread fast during Rush week) it is possible that you may lose out on your final choice, because that club understood that you didn't want them. This goes for attitudes also. Observe all the rules of Rush. Serious consequences may devel- ope if these rules are not ob served. For instance, by not tak ing silence seriously, it can cut you out of further Rush activi ties. Rush Week is an extremely tense and hectic week of the school year, and to many, a very important one. Many are jittery and nervous and tempers flair easily. Avoid conflict by obeying the Rush procedure. Most of all, enjoy yourself. Ask anyone who has participated in Rush before. Whether the person is active, inactive, or inde pendent, it is very seldom that he doesn't remember and ever cherish that week. Some of your best friends and acquaintances are made in those few nights and close ties and bonds are developed. It provides an excellent opportunity for ac quainting yourself with other groups of students. It is a challenge, and however disappointing or heartbreaking the future may look, it lures many students. By meeting this challenge of Rush, a person de- velopes a little more poise and commence in himself. Rush Starts Club Suggests Rush for both the Men's and Women's social clubs on campus will begin the week of October 5.
