Publish Works Two WSC professors of the Social Science Department published their book reviews in the autumn issue of the Utah Historical Quarterly. Dr. Donald Moorman, associate head of the Social Science Department wrote a book review of the book: Doomed Road of Empire: The Spanish Trail of Conquest, by Hodding and Betty Carter. Dr. Dello G. Dayton, head of the Social Science Department, reviewed the book The Galvanized Yankees by D. Alexander Brown. The Galvanized Yankees, reviewed by Dr. Dayton, is an account of a group of Union soldiers during the Civil War era. Doomed Road of Empire: The Spanish Trail of Conquest, reviewed by Dr. Moorman, is a historical count of the struggling of five Christian nations, Spain, France, Mexico, the Republic of Texas, and the United States to win the territory over which the Spanish Trail was built. Olson, head of Weber State College department of Anthropology and Philosophy, recently had an article concerning marriage counseling in Utah entitled 'Recommendations for Utah State Marriage Counseling" published in the Annual Utah Academy of Sciences, Arts, and Letters Proceedings. The article was a study made mm Dance Cupid has been replaced by an IBM machine. The result? Blind dates mass-produced. For the past week guys and girls have been filling out forms in the UB, hoping to get the date of their dream for the IBM dance on April 3. The dance, sponsored by the Freshman Class will be from 9 to 12 in the UB. In order to satisfy everyone the Freshmen have hired two bands. A seven piece combo from the Stardusters will play slow music in one room, while the Fugitives play surfing music in another. Dress is sport. The admission price of $1 was paid by the men when they filled out their forms for their .dates. Each man will receive - a post card in the mail with the name and phone number of the date the IBM has selected for him. The boy has the option of calling the girl and arranging the date. The girl will not know who has been selected for her until she receives the phone call. Come on, guys. Dr. Olson was selected by the Advisory Committee wv Marriage Counseling Services, in Utah District Courts for the study. The study was begun back in 19G0 and was completed just last year. by Kenny Ala The men of Sigma haven't had any activities planned this last week or for this week as they have been busy doing term papers and studying for dead week's finals. Sigma will have some strong skiiers in the snow carnival ski race. In the previous meet this year, Sigma skiiers placed first in total points. Work, Study On Mental Health A summer work and study program in mental health and delinquency will be conducted at the University of Utah from June 28 until Aug. 20. It is open to students in any field of study in a Western college or university, who would like to explore career possibilities in mental health, or who would like to gain a better understanding of community and institutional efforts in mental health. Applications can be obtained by those interested from Dr. Max Carruth, Department of Sociology University of Utah, Salt Lake City Utah 84112. Dr. Carruth is co-director of the WICHE Work-Study Progress. The criteria for selection includes scholastic standing. The ten-week program will coincide with regular academic summer sessions. The first and last week will be spent in ane anacademic setting. Job assignments will last for the eight middle weeks and will take place in mental health programs for the mentally ill, mentally retarded an the delinquent. Salary for the eight weeks will be approximately $560. College credit will be given and credits earned will be transferable to other western institutions. The cost to the students will include tuition, room and board, and transportations. Some scholarship assistance may be obtained from the Mental Health Associa-'tion in this region.
