Weber Finishes Season in First Place Tie With Ricks, CSU Ags By Vance Pace The Weber College Wildcats kept a perfect record on the home floor by defeating the Boise Broncos and the Ricks Vikings last weekend. After returning from a rough road trip to Southern Utah during which the Weberites suffered setbacks at the hands of CSU and Dixie, the fired-up Wildcats edged the Broncs, 81 to 78, and coasted to a 92-80 upset over the powerful Rex-burg crew. The two-game streak left Weber tied with CSU and Ricks for the ICAC crown. Weber had trouble hitting foul pitches against the Broncos during the first half, and they left the floor trailing 34-30. Subic and Don Clifford led the Swensmen in the second half as they poured in 51 points against the stunned Boise team. Subic found the hoop for 30 points, while Clifford, scoring on brilliant drive-ins, added 15 to the Weber cause. The following night last place Snow teamed up to help the Weberites climb into the first place tie by robbing CSU of a clinching victory, while Weber was coasting past the talented Rexburg quint. It was Subic, Nish and Dick Juluson who led the attack against the Vikings. Subic potted 24 to lead the home scorers. Elongated Nish was right behind with 23, while Juluson dunked 13. The final results show Weber to have a 10-4 record. They were successful against every team . in the conference at least once. Snow, Carbon, and Westminster bowed to the Wildcats in all their meetings.jiiMiiiiiiiMDiiiiMiiiiiiaiimiiiiiiiDiiiiiiiiiiiiniiiiiiiiiiiimiiiiin I I WEBER OFFICE I I SUPPLY CO. Representing the Wildcats in the slalom downhill will be Bill Shaw, former University sportsman; Brent Bingham, Jay Anderson and Kent Nichols, who all three teamed for the purple and white snowmen of last year's meet, and Darden Andersen, who is a freshman. The warm days and cold nights have made the run fairly slick and is promised to be one of the faster contests of the Cats' skiing season. The run will encompass over a mile of steep and rugged terrain, and will have six gates. ! The winner of the single elimination classic will represent this region in the national finals at Hutchison, Kansas, March 7 through 12. Dr. Clair L. Anderson (Andy) is director of the tournament. Weber will meet Powell J. C. College tonight, and Boise will play C. S. U. Game time is 7:30 p.m. The last time Weber represented this division was in 1951. Dr. Swenson and his club took sixth place in a 16-team tourney. This part of the country has been represented by some excellent teams in the Nationals. Last year Snow placed second. Because Ricks and Westminster are four-year institutions, they are eliminated from the region finals. This contest will be the first of a three-meet series in the next few weeks. First at Bogus Basin at Boise. Weber then will travel to Idaho State. Then they are invited to the Idaho State meet at Twin Falls and also to Westminster's invitational at Alta to zip up the activity draw bag for another season. T Men Dominate l-M Standings By Glen McKntire Intramural basketball is nearing the half-way mark and the men are rapidly being separated from the boys. In top games played last week, Excelsior II boys embarrassed the Sigma I team to the tune of 22 to 20 in an overtime contest. In another game played the same day, the Phoenix I team beat Sigma II but then forfeited the contest to the Sigmaites because they used a non-club member.Intramural paddleball and ping-pong schedules are now up on the Gym bulletin board and boys are urged to play their rounds as soon as possible.
