Show September 29, 1950 SIGNPOST Page 3 "Platter Patter" From the realm of recorded music comes news of this and that; but particularly comes news of Sarah Vaughn. She of the low and luscious voice has made a great hit of late with her two newest recordings. Probably the better and most talked about of -the two is "Our Very Own" from the picture of the same title. The other, "Thinking of You" isn't quite as smooth but very sentimental and comes from the recent movie, "Three Little Words.' No need to explain why "Can Anyone Explain" has taken such a high curve on the hit parade. Just -give piano-playing Larry Green's recording a long listen and it's obvious.Mario Lanza has done a wonderful job in waxing his latest for RCA Victor. It comes in the form of an album entitled "The Toast of New Orleans." The movie will be here soon. A droning, mournful bit of melody called "Goodnight Irene" has definitely walked away with the laurels of the music world, and it's in like Flynn" here as elsewhere. It is well represented by a host of different artists in as many differene treatments. Frank Sinatra smooths it out while Red Foley drones it. for business, or school , it's a pleasure to wear these WORSTED SUITS by CRESCENT PARK You Sfil! The gra cious surroundings of Bertha Eccles Hall will lend their charm to the occasion between the hours of seven and nine p. m. This tea serves as a means of acquainting the members of Weber College social clubs with all freshman girls, particularly those seeking membership in one of these various organizations, and also acquainting the freshmen with the clubs. Written invitations will be mailed to approximatelv two hundred ami fifty freshmen. Clubs participating in this event are: Chanodo, overall supervision; Iota Tau Kappa, serving; La Dianaeda, refreshments; Otyokwa, invitations; Sharmea, decorations; and Tiki, clean-up. A cordial invitation is extended to freshman girls to "all get dressed in your Sunday best" and attend this tea being given in your honor. GREEN BEANIES It appears that along with girl's skirts going up, hair coming down and the "velvet and wool jersey look" in general, the college men have come up with a few new twists too. Their jackets and vests are soft and suede and their sweaters are noticeably tucked in, to give that casual but well-groomed appearance. Crew cuts are not as plentiful this fall. But the most outstanding sport attire of the entire season, came in the form of head gear and hats displayed to a very great extent during Freshman Week. It seems that several people around the campus were to be seen sporting green and white beanies. The older and more experienced sophomores are still in the dark. "Can anyoneexplain?"
