Show SIGNPOST November 16, 1959 Page 4 VVIA Plays 2nd Round By Judy Dean, WIA Reporter Volleyball competition in the WIA reached the second round last Friday. Friday's battles saw the Independents down the Pink Ladies. The Nurses soaked the 'Swabs', and the Squaws chanted their victory Whoop as they wounded TK. This afternoon LD will play the Independents and OT will see action with Sharmea at 3 p.m., at 4 p.m. the Nurses play TK. All girls are advised to wear their tennis shoes, and shorts or pedal pushers to the games. No street shoes will be allowed on the floor. Lamba Delta Sigma and the Faculty will not play this afternoon. Pat Burger, WIA President, encourages all girls on campus to try for the purple or white 'W' that is given at the WIA banquet during Spring Quarter. The 15 top Sophomore girls will receive solid blocked 'W's. Top freshman girls will receive 10 white blocked 'W's. The Mavericks from Grand Junction, Colorado, showed a very strong defense and several great runners the score 10 to 0. In addition to the 100 points gained by winning thecross-country Sigma has totaled 150 for first and !K) points for third in the touch football tourney. The golf competitor, fall version, was also won by Sigma for an extra 75 points added to their 00 entrance points the Sigmas have 505 big intramural points. Excels has been right behind Sigma in every event. In golf competition Excels placed second for 00 counters. Touch football gave Excels 120 for their second there. The Excels runners picked up 80 more for that second place. Added to 00 entrance points Excels has totaled 350 points. Phoenix by placing third in the cross country picked up CO points. Added to their 70 entrance points the Peons have i'.iO tallies to their credit. The Faculty, who dropped out of football play occupies the fourth position due to their 45 Golf points and 40 entrance points. Supplies for . . .
