With all its entrants aced out in Paddleball, Sigma will be unable to score heavy on points. Leading the paddleball race are: Furguson, Wanlasa, Excels; Larson, Petersen, and Rhsad, Faculty; Orell, Beta. The contests are scheduled to end today. J.asketball . Next on the IM slate is a two-league round robin basketball schedule which should last, j&i-ub fur -Avcckj.- .Today's ' game between Davis County and Independents will culminate the first round of action. Games played during the week were: Faculty vs. IDS; Sigma "B" vs. Beta "A" Sigma "A" vs. Beta "B" and Phoenix "B" vs Excels "A". Water Polo Interweaving with basketball will be a stiff league of water polo scheduled to start within the next two weeks says Ray Ithead, IM director. Run down on current I?J points show that Sigma still leads with 335, Faculty 320, Excels 280, and Phoenix with 275. Other activities during the fall quarter will include swimming, skiing, bowling and foul pitching. At 2:30 Sharmea's league leading girls play LaDianaeda and at 3:30 Otyokwa plays the Independent girls. The new girls' club has drawn a bye for the first round. Members of the team are, Estella Birkinfeld, Pam Muir, Bev Porter, Ellie Thompson, Jody Budge, Carol Donaldson," Pat Hill, and Goldie Wayment. Alternates to the team are Mary Jo Hezler and Nancy Hollist. An honorary I volleyball team was also chosen; Linda Harris, Judy Sarter, Carolyn Wilberg, Nancyan Bohman, Virginia Jensen, Denese Carr, Pat Wells and Elizabeth McKay. WIA president Ellie Thompson urges all the girls to be active in basketball play so that no games are forfeited. "Home of Necessary and Unnecessary Auto Parts" IM Forfeits Mar Basketball Two forfeits marred the first round of intramural basketball action at Weber this week. Beta "B" and Phoenix '-B" failed to field teams against Sigma "A" and Excelsior "A" respectively. Intramural director Ray Rhead was somewhat perturbed by the failure of the teams to show up. He mentioned that some clubs sign up two teams and then have trouble fielding just one. tBaWW!WS?3BgEBB5ggtty Stingy Cats Shine On Defense This year's Weber basketball team is almost as stingy as the team which Coach Bruce Larson guided to second place National Junior College honors last year. The 30-year-old coach guided the Eastern Arizona Junior College team to the runner-up spot of the N J C A tournament a t Hutchison, Kansas. Over the season Larson's team held its opponents to an average of 54.2 points a game, best in the nation that year. In its first 15 games, Weber has scored 1021 points for a 68 per game average while holding opponents to 840 total points or 56 per game, only 2 points a game below Larson's EAJC team.
