Our party with Phoenix at Clearfield's new swimming pool was great! Afterward we all went to the TUB. Thanks men for a great party! Remember to support the dinner dance sponsored by the Social Committee this Friday. The new studentbody officers will be announced at this dance. Tired Talent Fails Congrats Winners! By Jerry Hart Dahl, you looked better in last week's picture by your article in the Phoenix Chronicle than you've looked all year long, although there was no definite improvement in the article. From the less talented individuals, to the more talented individuals, congratulations on winning the talent show. Janet Gibbs is having a little trouble getting Cliff Samuels mustard plaster off. Maybe Cliff could follow in the steps of such engaged figures as Jack Clements, and Linda Coleman. Our new officers, which were just recently elected, and who we feel are capable of doing a tremendous job are: Kent Pantone, president; Ron Conners, vice president; Harry Campbell, secretary; Mike Farrell, treasurer; Jerry Hart, Sgt. of arms; Terry Van Fleet, athletic manager congratulations.Speaking of elections, Hale your last bit of verbal campaigning on election's day in building 3 seems to have paid off. Congratulations are in order to those who did make the finals for the election of new studentbody officers. "Support the candidates of your choice in the finals." By Nancy Stanfield The U.S.S.L.D. is sailing smoothly again, now that Talent Show night is over. But all the work and time was really worth it. We want to congratulate the other winners,, Sigma, Phoenix, and O.T.; and also all clubs on campus for the fine performances. Personal congrats to our Talent Show co-chairmen Sally Lindsey and Shanna Chap-pell.Since two of our shipmates (Donna Sparks and Ann Fox) might get the lonelies for a while, we've planned loads of things to keep them and the whole club busy for Spring Quarter. Among our big plans are all the activities of Alum Week: the L.D. assembly (April ."), and our Easter dance that night, Easter Breakfast, and the "Last-Chance Dance" we will co-sponsor with Phoenix. To make things even more challenging, we're trying to maintain studies and grades in order to keep the Scholarship Trophy. In all probability, L.D'. and Sigma did have a party after Talent Show. We'd like to tell Fred it was a fun party and we're sorry about his dish-water hands; we'll shape up! It's been a long time since ol' Sid Gynt hit the third page with a few pointed suggestions or something. Since last time ol' Dean Chris-tensen was selected fire chief . . . tee hee . . . He got a fire hat too. ,, Notice how his popularity has risen ? It's magic.I hope you were nice to our boys at the polls. Could be by this time that Dean C h r istensen is p r e s ident and Dick Miller is treasurer and I can safely bet Peek or Dave Business Man- r X vrf ;1 4. I John Hale that either Alan Stromberg is the ager. Realizing that Phoenix is the most stable club on campus I must insure the tranquility of the school by warning you that if you see a Phoenix man ripping up the halls or acting like an animal (Look for hidden meanings), it is the result of the new treasurer Dick Diamond . . . Oh, oh, here he comes I'll be back in a minute .... Is he gone . . . ? Other new Phoenix officers are the good looking and capable Dick Miller as president; Bob Allred as the second in command. Kent Weir will record the mayhem. Alan Peek will terrify the sisters with threats of the strap. The old timers of the faculty squad aided by John Hale at the Umpire spot tasted a little of the Phoenix ball handling. However, the game ended in a tie. Woodie has proven himself in many ways . . . our assembly, our talent show and now Macbeth . . . and Sigma's stag . . . "Oh ye of little faith" . . . Repent. Nice Talent Show . . . Nice entertainment after. There was real spirit there. Norren is waiting outside in the TUB; got to go . . . keep smiling. Till Sidney strikes again. . . Sidney Gynt Get Hep You Guys I'm Getting Lonely By Susan Brown Sharmea is extremely proud of their studentbody vice president candidate Jill Bateman. Jill has been Frosh president of Sharmea this year' and all of us have watched the outstanding work she has done. She would certain-'''fySSM ly De a great officer for Weber. We're still looking for a place to stash our ten foot Sharmea pin used at the dance. It will probably be presented to the new president at the final ban-q u e t but we don't know what 4 " " to do until then. It's getting pretty messed up in its precarious position on the top of my car. Plans are being made for the Easter Banquet April 17 to be held at the Top of the Town. The freshman officers are in charge of this traditional alumni event. Hope the other clubs have their two cents worth in this week. Gets kind of lonely on this "Sharmea Newsletter" page with only Mr. Dahl in his transposed face. Everybody go vote if you haven't and be sure to support the dance tonight. (A great big P.S. from the Society editor: Miss Susan Brown was too bashful to announce her happy achievement. "I'm pinned", she screamed as she flung the door of the Signpost office off its hinges . . . Congrats Sue.) Miss Brown Board of Control Denies Funds Board of Control did not appropriate money for a debate trip as was reported in the Signpost. Money for the trip will come from debate funds. The first annual tournament will be held at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu. The Weber College teams would compete with other teams from up and down the west coast. Teams from the BYU will also be going. PEOPLE are funny. They spend money they don't have, to buy things they don't need, to impress folks they don't like.
