For the prize he received a beautiful portable radio in addition to a special song which was dedicated to him and sung by a chorus of some of Chanoda's "Merriest Maids". Dale Randall was chosen as "Little John" and Ed Campbell as "Friar Student Body To Go Followed by Eats, Da Whole Weber college student body-f will participate in Weber s Christ' mas caroling Saturday night, start' ing at 8:00 p. m. For the first time under the spon sorship of Associated Men's Stu 1300 Registered for Weber Night School Nearly 1300 people have registered for classes in the night school at Weber College so far, according to Lorenzo E. Peterson, director of the evening school. School officials expect an enrollment approaching 1600 for the winter quarter night studies. Tuck". Each of them received a tie clasp. Xmas Carol Singing ncing, Saturday dents, Weber's student body will meet, disperse into groups, and travel through the city singing Christmas carols. Meeting place will be in the auditorium. From here groups will climb aboard hay-filled trucks furnished by the city. The groups will tour the city singing, accompanied by brass quartets arranged by the band. At 9:30 they will all assemble in front of the Egyptian theatre where further singing will take place for, another hour. At 10:30 all will return to the gym building on Weber's campus for refreshments and dancing. In charge of the affair is Dick Van Wagner who urges all clubs and students to support the caroling. Ray Arnold and Beth Mac-Farland will be in charge of the refreshments. Faculty members are invited. Don't forget the Student Body Dance slated for December 29, during the holidays! "All Faces West" Records Have College Musicians Roland Parry's "All Faces West" is now available in records at four Ogden music stores. The recordings were made here several weeks ago by Igor Gorin, the singing star who sang the original songs in the role of Brigham Young. Jack Larsen of Ogden is the only other solo voice heard on the records. Background music is furnished by Weber college singers and Wayne Deveraux at the organ. Dean Thueson reads a brief narra tion before each song from the original narration written by Wayne Carver. Placement Tests Given Students Cooperative English Placement Tests for all new Weber students will be administered Friday, January 4, from two to four p.m. in the Testing Bureau, West Central Building, Director of testing Walter C. Neville said Wednesday. The tests are required of all freshmen students, Mr. Neville said, and currently enrolled students who have not yet taken the examination may also take it at this time. Major purpose of the test is to measure achievement in English and reading proficiency, the director said, and it is used by the English department to place freshmen in three or five hour sections of Basic Communications I. Editor to Speak Jan. 4 Darrell Greenwell, an editor at The Standard Examiner, who recently returned from a trip to Europe, will speak to the Student Body, Jan. 4, sponsored by International Relations club. |
