Show December 9, 1960 SIGNPOST Page 3 EG T3 Pweiiiii B!! C! $Mm O m mm By Larry Peer Congratulations to all those participating' in the compined Phoenix and Sharmea production, "The Lark." The Elzey get-together after the last performance saw a revival meeting begin with Norman Bramble as Elmer Gantry, and Steve Hess attempting to raise a dead virgin. Crud, Prophets and church goers. There goes our membership. This proud mother wants to say to all persons wishing a dancing date of the more sophisticated type, unoolored by the idiot gyrations of the hosts, come to the Snowball tonight. Tickets may be obtained for $3. at the door or from any Phoenix member. Announcements of the most beautifully proportioned and attitudinized woman' on campus will highlight the intermission. Like a number of other people around here, Ron Connors wrote some club articles, one of which the Signpost had the affronbary to publish, and then he sat on his copious green haunches and tried to compose a short essay, and concluded he didn't have the necessary experience on the subject. n helipve it was "Wavs and Means to Date L.D. Freshmen") and this essay went into the fire, too. Writing being beyond his ken, he bribed belatedly a group of literary geniouses. They refused his bribe. Any article exhibiting green maladjustment in this issue is coincidental, and should not be considered in the; high rating of this newspaper. Til next year, happy Christmas and Merry New Year. Sydney Gynt f " "'-jRuth, all that J deep cioncentra- f' 'tion on plays I i ; really paid off. Study Time Over Now We Party . . . By Linda Monk Alio! II Mait Beau ! ! The pledges have new received the jo-yous news: who will have the legal authority to pronounce all sorts of judgements upon them. Needless to say, we members will thoroughly enjoy ourselves until they become members. We would like to congratulate the cast, director, and any-one else who contributed to "The Lark." As usual, Sharmea played a good part Joyce Eldredge, assistant director and in the part of Mistress; and Brenda Nessosis as Little Queen, were our two top actresses. Carol Sutton designed the costumes, and Kaye McGarry rested (a little) as general errand girl. The production was a tribute to the Theatre Arts Department. Hurray!! We won over the faculty team last week . . . and not by forfeit either. So it just goes to show: you don't need barbells to be a success!! (But we understand from certain campus guar-ters that they help!) By the way With Christmas ion its way Shar-'mea members ' are counting , their pennies, C. 2 ' Eckels and di- Miss Monk "mes d planning for the gay party time ahead. After cracking the hooks we are going to let our hair down (which usually isn't up), and party with Sigma. Judging from the plans made it ought to really crown the quarter. We are also going to have a private party among ourselves the week after. The new freshmen officers are in charge of it, so it will be tops.. Well, until next quarter, after we catch up on our parties, rest, and anything else that needs to be taken care of . . . Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night. Au revoir, Les Francais. P.S. Here's to the Phoenix Bird and the snowball. If they fly as usual the "Ball" will be a great success. Oaths Of Loyalty Vowed At Banquet By Nancy Stanfield Twenty seven lovely Freshmen girls will repeat an oath of loyalty at our Banquec this weekend and become pledges to La Dianiaeda. Members will pin pledge pins on their "Little Sisters". The small gold stars will be worn until membership pins are received during Winter Quarter. Chairman, Janet Argyle, will usher us from Yvonne's ceremonial basement to Bratten's iGrctto where we will celebrate our newcomers with La Dianhalibut. After MB read the Constitution last week in club, we elected the following officers: Dixie Lee will lead the L.D. Freshmen as President, with Sherma Smith as Secretary. Sally Rhees and Sandra Thompson will serve on AWS Council, Nona Vald'ez will attend WIA meetings, and Jane Mozley will represent L.D. in Interclub. Elaine Parker and Shirley Hancock will act on Interclub's Judiciary Committee. . '- ' I guess the Sai lor Squad frightened the Nurses, who forfeited the 2f V Ball game to uja i a. a c ween. Nona V. and Nancy S. represented L.D. at the All-Star Volley ball Tournament Stanfield in Salt Lake. Our Miss team lost to BY and USU, but wc were the "happiest" there when we defeated the University of Utah team. Sailors meet in the gym at 1400 hours to practice for today's game with Lambda Delta Good Luck to Sally, Penny, DI xie, Karen, and Ileen for Phoenix's terrific Snowball. Last year's Queen, Cherie Lindsay, will crown the lucky girl to reign this year. Dienna wants a clear' weather report for Christmas, Loretta wants to find my club pin, and Yvonne wants a "Mr. Ogden". Ahoy Sailors, let's hit the finals next week and see what we can do about regaining Scholarship Trophy. ' A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL FROM THE SAILORS OF LA DIANAEDA!! See you next year. -- "E" Man L. Smith Football All Star By Ron Connors 1 -Thanks to every '"""""""v ' one who suppor j ted .our , d a n c e last Friday, It K WaS nS tn3T ma' not be remembered very well but was an over whelming success Thanks espec ially to Sigma Mr. Connors for tneir ,SUP- port. ney aian i have to' try to impress anybody by wearinng their formal clothes. It was good to see some of the girls let their hair down and have a little ' fun. They seem to have it back up this week. Congratulations to the two Excels Volleyball teams for placing second and forth in Intramural play. Congratulations to Excels man Lynn Smith, who quarterbacked Webers second place football team and for geing named Junior College Ail-American. He is on a trip to New Mexico and gets a chance to play in the East-West All-Star Game tomorrow. Gordon, if you would kindly translate your column of last week it would certainly straighten out the puzzled and confused minds of your fans. You most certainly disrupted them with that bit of literature. Also the rest of the readers, being of average intelligence, will only have to read it once. This being dead week the number of card games in the TUB naturally increases, the library uses twice' as much light because there's twice as much empty space the instructors give twice as much homework because students only go half the time and the coffee in the TUB gets hotter and thicker. Mike Files just informed me that he thinks he can use everybody here at Weber but don't call him, just sit back and wait for your big break. He's modest, so his right hand man, Mike Jennings will contact you. This being the last paper before the holidays the Men of Excelsior offer their Christmas Cheer and hope for the sobriety of Phoenix. One of the Four Roses Congrats Excels . . Terrific Malific By Cheryl Paxton Ah So: i . Going to be very short this week 'cause the lib. is filling up and I might as well make room for those who came to learn. Anyway, I'm getting tired of group study, too much of anything can get you down, (eh fans?) Well our pledges win get their small candles so that they can go into the campus and be shining lights of truth and innocense. Maybe . we should have given them earlier, I hear Sigma is still groping for the lie-ht hut nil their is hay. (But doesn't the song say "It's not hay?") Lynda Dee was chosen as the leader of the fine group of frosh girls in Takai Kyoto, I'm sure she will do a great job. I didn't see Jerry in school today, could it be he is still in the corner of the Old Mill yelling turn on the light!!! He just didn't realize that the light, (what there was of it) was on but the table was just too thick. Well, I'm not handing out a lot of congrats today, only to Excels . . . I think the "E" boys neatly pulled through. The Malefic was the greatest ever. The Best! I'm sure anyone who attended enjoyed themselves and possibly anyone around them. In all seriousness guys it was a smashed success. Everyone but everyone was refreshed.
