The women at Weber realized this and saddled their energy at the polls last week. Congratulations to the new Freshmen officers Bonnie Baker, Vive President; and Sadimae Anderson, Assistant Intramurals Manager. Also, .happy notes to the new sophomore Secretary, Vicky Baird. Good Start WIA got off to a good start this year with a combination of volleyball and lots of spirit. Last Friday Sharmea dropped their barbells on the nurses; Lambda Delta Sigma beat (briefly stated) Independents; and the Faculty, taught L.D. a lesson. The table tennis tables have been poppin' too this quarter. It seems like Lambda Delta Sigma had somebody all warmed up on winning and Sylvia Jessop spiked her way to first place. Jill Bateman took second with Dienna Champ-neys following in 3rd, and Susan Parkinson 4th. Weber replaced the College of Southern Utah as the second place team in the ICAC standings as a result of the Wildcats, 14-6 win over the Broncos of CSU last Saturday. The victory boosted the Wildcat's conference reoord to 3-2. Weber has one remaining game which will be played today at Price against the Carbon Eagles. A Weber win today will clinch second. The Wildcats had difficulty in mobilizing an offensive attack until the third quarter when they did all their scoring. Weber missed on three good scoring opportunities in the first half as they moved the ball ,well at midfield, but were unable to punch over a T.D. Ground Game Weber elected to stay, mostly on the ground as there was a stiff blowing. Three attempted Wildcat passes netted but one completion.Weber's straight ahead power plays picked up most of the yardage as Weber's big line opened up some nice holes all ofternoon long. The Wildcats had a much better game on paper in the statistical department. Weber had 14 first downs compared to six for the-visiting Bronoos. Weber's lone pass gained 28 yards while CSU gained only 13 yards on three completed passes out of 10 attempts. The Wildcats' ground game netted 218 yards as CSU picked up 81 yards. Three plays mooved the hall to the 14, but a fumble gave the ball back to CSU. Early in the second period, Weber started a drive on their own 30 and advanced the ball to the CSU eight where the Bronoos' defense stiffened and took over on downs. During the same quarter, Steve Hodson intercepted lan errant CSU pass on the Bronco 18, but again a fumble stopped the Weber threat. The Wildcats took the second half kickoff on their own 27 yard line and 18 plays later scored the first touchdown of the ball game. Fullback Dennis Kanter powered over from the one-yard line.
