Which of these lovely girls will 1951"? Tonight Farley Granger's Miller, Carol Jean Shaum, was taken. Marilyn Darlene Powell Is 'Friendliest Girl' "Friendliest Girl" at Weber college is Darlene Powell, according to popular vote of all campus co-eds. Runners-up for the title were Helen Benson and Pat Olson. Candidates are left to right: Barbara Jones, Carol Watkins. Shanna Stephens was absent when the photo "Trying Discs" By Ann Lund Frank Sinatra, who hasn't received a laurel for quite some time, should receive more than a few for his new Columbia album, "Sing and Dance With Frank Sinatra". In the most energetic and breezy manner, the background music is provided by George Siravo. Sinatra's voice may even be forgotten against the electric intonations of the fresh Siravo spirit. The tunes so well done are: "Lover", (listen to the bass work in this), "It's Only A Paper Moon", "My Blue Heaven", "It All Depends on You", "You Do Something to Me", (terrific alto sax), "Should I", "The Continental", and "When You're Smiling". You'll find they're really dahceable. Mam bo Madness For those with South American music tendencies, nothing could be finer than the spice of the Mambo album, "Arthur Murray Favorites". With such top-notch mambo artists as Billy May, Lourindo Almeida, and the untouchable Pete Rugolo ding the composing; and with Billy May conducting the "Rico Mambo Orchestra", how can it miss. Tunes are: "Mamoo Petardo", "Mamoo Riff", (Kentonish tendencies), "Minor Mambo", "Manhatten Mambo", "Sambo Mambo", "Fat Man Mambo", "Mambo Con Catalina", and "Popp'n Mambo" on Capitol. More Favorites "Jet" has lost its instrumental identity to the vocal recently done by Nat "King" Cole. Smooth - sensuous - suggestive. The Ray Charles Singers and the orchestra conducted by Joe Lipman add to the effect. "The Magic Tree" is on the reverse side, this time combining King Cole with the Les Baxter chorus and orchestra. Another philosophic melody comparable to "Nature Boy". These are also for Capitol. .. 1 READ BROS I J Headquarters For j LUGGAGE j BRIEF CASES S BILLFOLDS 24th & Kiesel Ave. OGDEN RUSTY'S 3955 Riverdale Road Malts - Sandwiches - Fountain Car Service WINTER and SUMMER DAY and NITE Only 12 Days Left In This Quarter What did YOU do yesterday? Sleep till noon? Have breakfast in bed? Go on a vacation spree? Probably everyone did something a little differently. Chances are no one bothered with lessons or assignments. Yesterday was the first legal holiday this quarter, and it was welcomed by students and faculty alike. Here is an encouraging bit of news for those who are worried about turning into a book worm. There are only twelve (not counting test week) more days until Winter quarter comes to an end. Nice, huh?' 1$ OAl&K fj$ FINAL By Style Wise How to stretch the 38-cent clothing dollar to its face value was demonstrated Friday, February 16, during a Fashion Show, sponsored by the Associated Women Students. The setting was appropriately named, "H. A. Dixon's Home of Original Models." The seamstresses exhibited their own creations to the comments of Jan Cooper, mistress of ceremonies. A very popular material, used by several of the girls, is the new Weber red nylon. This war surplus fabric was given to the College sewing department. Such items as: rain coats, lounging robes and forrnals have been made from this material. The clothing revue was divided into five divisions. They were: lounging outfits, school dresses, play clothes, spring ensembles and evening wear. Fabrics that seem to be favorites are: wool jersey, dotted Swiss, rayon gabardine, silk crepe, sharkskin, velveteen, taffeta, satin, wool, cotton, corduroy and striped terry towel. Changeabout jackets, two piece dresses and optional boleros are very practical to the college girl, because they can be worn together, separately, or with other outfits. A variety of accessories gives an outfit the "little something" that makes it look new and different. Don't worry about the clothes you don't have, just enroll in a sewing class and get prepared to help set the style pace. That goes for you too, boys! 1 Quick Snack Booths Will Feature Hot Menu, March 2nd La Dianaeda girls will hold a luncheon sale March 2, at various booths around the campus. Not only will this sale build up the club's funds, but it will also provide "quick snacks" for the high school debaters who will be here that day. The menu is in the making. The committee in charge of this is: Marilyn Oakey, Phyllis Randall and Corene Martin. High Grades Members of La Dianaeda have done it again! Mrs. Clarise Hall, registrar, recently announced that L. D. had the highest scholastic record of all clubs on the campus for Fall quarter. A new pledge, Cheril Heiner, has joined the La Dianaeda crew. She received her pledge status during a regular club meeting, Wednesday, February 14. First prize in the talent show was awarded to members of La Dianaeda. As a result, they have had many invitations from off-campus organizations to present their eight-minute skit. The girls will perform Saturday afternoon, March 3, in the North Ogden L, D. S. Chapel. Last Monday night, the Diana followers had a party with their brother club, Phoenix. According to Diane Jones, L. D. president, "A great time was had by all."
