E. department now that the kinks have been ironed out of muscles and schedules. In the creative dance class the OOH's hand AAH's and whistles have stopped now that all of the leotards have arrived and the girls all look the same. According to Kay Giles, "These things fit like scotch tape." The little leather shoes that came with the leotards were too big in many cases. Margene Pulsipher just can't figure out why they sent a size nine shoe for her size six foot. . The class has taken the first big step, off the side and into the deep end. Carolyn Zinn isn't afraid of water. It's the jumping in that scares her. Intramurals will begin soon and we'll have news about them so, so long for a while., r.----Li I . , If i 0ljU- J V, J 1 ' m.i ini--"" ""''" f S ' - iwhWiW" 1 "" -TKiili.'. . The table is seldom frequented, and it has been suggested by some that it be moved to the upper campus due to the lack of recreation facilities there. iiiiiiiiiiiiiaiiiiiiiiiiiiDiiiiiiiiiiiiaiiiiiiiiiiiiaiiiMiiiiiiiiiiiiiu 1 WEBER OFFICE I I SUPPLY CO. a e 5 5 j NEW LOCATION j 2432 Washington Blvd. f Complete Line S 5 Drafting Supplies Artists Supplies School Supplies I D aiiiiiiaiiiiiiiiiiiiQiiiiiiiiiuiaiiiiiiiiiiiiaMMiiiiiiiiDiiiiiiiiiiiiin Box Elder. 2" North Hardwood Hobbies Basketball Practice Begins at Veber By Ken Hull A colorful pre-season schedule takes the purple and white basketball team onto campuses of Colorado and Kan sas. I he trip will begin December 11. Thirty hoopsters contended in the opening day of prac tice, and six more are expected to come out after the com pletion of football. Nine high schools are represented, Last year's team went down to the sunny state of Texas, where they played some of the better Junior colleges, one being the second placer in the NJCCA Tournament at Hutchison, Kansas, held at the en dof last season. Table Sport May Be Extinct, Ideas Viewed By Vance Pace Is ping pong becoming an extinct sport on the Weber College campus? This is one of the pertinent questions in the minds of table tennis enthusiasts. Any Sophomore will tell of the days when the men's dressing room of the gym building was filled with fellows awaiting their turn at the serve and clam game. Novices learned it there. This was the place where veterans of the sport could practice. V, - . lounj j notei 1 t h i i Memories Many's the time that Kay Thompson and Art DeBoer have battled to a hairline finish as many less experienced lads looked on in amazement. Here was a chance to see skill and coordination matched in an exciting contest. But is there a chance for this sport to become a part of the life of the students on this campus? ART DEBOER, known as Arthur, King o f the tennis table, pointed out that there is nothing on this upper half in the line of activities. His s u g g e s tion is that a table be put in the lounge. Art also noted that if s happened there would have to be either a time limit or a limit to the number of games. PRESIDENT MILLER said he would go along with the idea that we have a 1 ic I 1 would be at all . iV J f o o e ; K 1 Un & n o i u i c lie tknf j aam Luai liicj' have considered . " i S the lounge for a p o s s i b ility of many things, and that the purpose of it is for the use of the students. The way that it would serve the most students in the most enjoyable manner is the way we want it. President Miller hopes that next quarter classes may be scheduled over a longer period of the day (that is some classes scheduled in the morning may be moved back to the after noon). This would give one or two extra classrooms which could be used for a purpose such as this. BOB RHEES, a lover of the sport from away back, believes that it would be possible to have a table in the lounge. "Heck yes; I could re-allv en for X', , that!" was his I V w comment on the subject. This corner would go along with the idea of some activity being placed on this sphere of Weber College. We certainly feel that we have the administration behind us in such a move. AC Frosh Thump Weberites, 26-20 By Vance Pace Weber's Wildcats failed in their last home stand against the Utah State Frosh. The Logan crew triumphed 26 to 20 in the afternoon clash. Meet Your Friends at MASON'S DRIVE IN Any- Day of The Week Riverdale Road at Lincoln Ave. Webercats Head for Southwest Battles By Jim Freston The Weber College football squad left last week for an extended jaunt into the neighboring states of Colorado and Arizona. The Purple and White express tangled with Eastern Arizona State on November 6, and battled Mesa Junior College on November 11. "California, Here I Come" Home for a brief rest,, then off again. The 17th of November the team, band, and Whip will trek to sunny California, where Milt will send his charges to take on a heavily favored Pasadena Junior College. Many enthusiastic students plan to make this trip. This classic will be staged in the world-famous Rose Bowl. Pasadena is the Little Rose Bowl defending champion, so Weber will have to play 'heads up football to walk away victor at this game. (Editor's note: The trip will be recapped by Jim Freston and will appear in the next issue.) Excelsior, Sigma in Intramural Final Excelsior and Sigma go into the limelight for the intramural trophy as the first phase of activity comes down to the wire. These two teams met last Wednesday in the stadium to decide the football championship. The results of this game were unknown at deadline. So little is known about intramurals that we hardly know what to write. Andy and Lynn Perkins are on the football trip. This leaves us nothing to go on. Ping pong was supposed to begin this quarter, but for some reason it has been delayed. Most of the clubs have their teams posted, and ping pong will probably start on Andy's return. Girls' Intramurals To Be Inaugurated By Marianne Johns Women's Athletic Association activities will get under way Friday, Dec. 3 from 2 to 4 p. m. The first sport in volley ball. Tootsie White WAA President has requested that girls who want to play on independent teams organize in groups of eight and notify either her or Mrs. Gregory that they have formed a team. These games will be played in the central building gym on lower campus. Otyokwa is defending champion and holds the revolving trophy, which is awarded to the group that has the most points at the end of each school year.
