Cops First Half Volleyball By MARIANNE JOHNS L. D. brought home top honors in the -first half of intramural volleyball competition with 3 wins and no losses. Chonodo placed second and O. T. was third. However, the volleyball winners will not be known until the second half is played and each of the teams meet again. Chonodo will battle L.D. today in an attempt to tie the first place spot, and O.T. and Sharmea will collide in the second game. The scores of last Friday's games were, L.D. 40, O.T. 31 and Chonodo 35, Sharmea 16. At the last WAA meeting Lu-Wanna Harris was named volleyball manager and Kay Ellsworth was named ping pong manager. The ping pong schedule is being made out and play should start soon. Basketball is next on schedule and will begin one week after the volleyball finals. Squash will also be played this quarter. Meet Your Friends at MASON'S DRIVE IN Tonight's Contest on Salt Lake Floor; Weber Plays Host Saturday Night By VANCE PACE Weber's Wildcats will take their perfect ICAC record to be put to a test tonight as the Cats travel to Salt Lake to test the Westminster Parsons. Weber will be host to the Salt Lake hoopsters tomorrow evening. Game time is 8 p.m. . Weber's 2-0 record comes as a. result of trouncing the Carbon Dinosaurs, 78 to 49, and trimming the defending champion Snow hoopsters 66 to 60 last weekend. Close Games Forecast tonights tilt promises to be a real thriller on the Salt Lake court. The Parsons were a victim of Snow last Friday, as the Badgers edged them 72 to 57. The purple and gold lads had sweet revenge Saturday by swamping Carbon 76 to 32. Subic and Nish Lead Victors Co-captains Don Nish and Bob Subic led the victorious Weberites against Carbon. Nish bucketed 10 fielders and nine from the charity stripe to cop all scoring honors for the evening with 29. Subic was reliable for 15 valuables. Lettermen Shine Lettermen were responsible for the bulk of Weber points the next night against Snow. Subic potted 11 from the field for a total of 22, while Curt Van Alfen hit six from afield and seven from the foul line for 19. Curt did a terrific job of sweeping the backboards. Nish was good for 15. Hassell Out With Injury- Coach Swenson has done a great job of seasoning a fairly green team. He had a rough break in losing Roy Hassell with a broken wrist. The trip through Kansas was a great experience for the team. Although it might appear as though it wasn't too successful, on the contrary it was very successful. It rounded the team into a professional looking outfit. As Dr. Swenson mentioned, the object of the trip was to give the boys plenty of experience and not merely to win games. The team had a very good time and their behavior gave Weber a good name that it deserves. Ab Sanone New Intramural Head By GLEN McENTIRE With the coming of a new quarter, many winter quarter sports are about to begin. The school is very fortunate in having a former student return after having served a hitch in the Air Force. He is Ab Sanone. Ab has consented to take over the responsibilities of intramural manager for the remainder of the year. The work involved in this job is quite a task, especially now that intramurals "are there and we are here." With the aid of Dean of Men Andersen, intramurals should once again look up. Of course it takes a lot of help and success depends on the participants. Let's all back up Ab and Andy and thereby help ourselves. Volleyball A quick look at volleyball showed that the league was coming to a close as last Friday in the Old Central Gym the Excel's team put the skids under a team of Sig-maites. From this corner the results look very much like Excelsior will come out on top of the list with first and second places and unless Phoenix lasts, Sigma will take on the third and fourth spots.
