The first game of the current series the Cats are playing was against Nevada Southern in the Las Vegas gym. First half sweats were experienced by the Cats as' the Nevada team kept within striiking distance during the first two quarters. At half time Weber held a 35-27 advantage.The second half saw Gene Kunz, Bill Crain and Ed Tillman out-jumping their taller rivals for the rebounds. Crain was high man for the Cats with 10 points, Kunz follow ed with 14 while Carter and Wilson each sank 10. The big cats were far. out front in the voting for the nation's top cagers as polled among the nation's coaches and sports writers. At press time the Weber College Wildcats had totaled six straight wins. The deep reserve strength has indicated the power of this year's team. Four of the starting team scored in double figures. Bill Crain led the totals with 20, Bob Wilson followed with 15. Ed Tillman hit 13 and Carter (Joe that is) snagged 10. Tillman was all over the boards' as he took 20 rebounds. Carter and Sivulich the guards tormented the Tarters with their habitual ball stealing. Weber led Compton 40-30 at the half. Bob Wilson hit 13, Gene Kunz and Bill Crain each totaled 12 while Ed Tillman and Joe Carter snagged 10. At the half, Weber held to a 28-24 lead. As the third period started, Slattery and Hawkins scored 7 straight to move ahead with four point margin. Crain and Tillman came back with one apiece and the Cats went ahead to stay.
