Show Wednesday, November 24, 1948 SIGNPOST Pago 3 Fall Musical! Displays W. C. Talent The Weber college music department, under the direction of Roland Parry, Clair Anderson, Harold Pettigrew and Del-mar Dickson, presented its annual Autumn concert to a packed house Nov. 15. The orchestra, under the direction of Mr. Dickson, began the program with the finale from Beethoven's Fifth Symphony and the Ballet Egyptian. Dorians and Dorianettes This was followed by "Light as Mist" and "Oh Enchantment" sung by the Dorian singers and the Dorianettes. Ronny Ross, Dorian member, also directed the Dorians in "Hold that Line." Directed by Mr. Parry, the college choir vocalized on "Because," 'Hear Oh Ye Earth," and "Evening Star." Kathleen Belnap sang the solo part in the latter rendition. - The lighter side of music was presented by the Musettes directed by Mr. Anderson. They sang "There Are Such Things" and "It's a Grand Night for Singing," followed by the Dorianettes singing "Holiday for Strings." Guest Appearance A featured event of the concert was a guest appearance of the acclaim winning Dorian quartet of last year. The Weber college band concluded the concert program with "Colonet Bogie," "Panis Angelicus," 'American Salute" (based on "When Johnny Comes Marching Home") and "Deep Purple." Social Whirl TIKI KAPA KAPA New pledge officers were elected last week and are as follows: Joyce Seaman, president; Sue Wright, vice president, and Gloria Roe, secretary. Phyllis Cooper was chosen WAA representative, and Donna Poor-man as AWS representative. "Marky," as she is called by all who know her, is interested not only in business, but she also takes an active part in musical affairs at Weber. For men who go well with 5 foot 3 blue-eyed blonds, her phone number is 6168 around the theme of "How people celebrated Thanksgiving in the United States," portraying scenes in different parts and ages of the United States, the Puritan scene, Four Freedoms and Grandma's on Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving festivities of the Puritan age, and Southern and Western Thanksgiving were pre sented. Realistic costumes and scenery were used. Special musical numbers were provided by Don Becker and Clair Anderson. General Chairman Lorraine Price was general chair man of the assembly with Patsy Pollard, Marrion Mower, Jo Anne Clifton, Mary Ann Wyatt, and Gayle Winkler assisting. The ballroom will be decorated under a Thanksgiving theme, with Ronnie Ross and orchestra furnish ing the music. Girls are urged to wear levies, petal pushers, or print dresses and the boys levies. Dinner Raffle A complete Thanksgiving dinner will be raffled off during inter mission, consisting of chicken, pumpkin pie and all the trimmings. This is the first time that a seven course dinner has been offered, it is usually a turkey. Paula Holmes is general chair man of the dance, with Doris Hansen in charge of tickets and programs, Marion Mower, decorations-, Marilyn Brewer, intermission; and home. New pledges received a Talisman rose, the club flower, and a small gold pin in the shape of a star to signify acceptance of their pledge vows. Pledge officers were elected at a recent meeting and they are as follows: Louise Allan, president, and Jean Bennett,secretary-treasurer. IOTA TAU KAPPA Iota's annual chocolate eclair sail was Friday after the assembly. Gregory, advisor; Carol Scho-ffield, president, June Webb vice president, and Joy Webb, secretary.Educators To Join National Group At a recent meeting of the Weber college Education club, members voted to have a branch of the club join the Association of Childhood Education, an international organization interested in child education, club officials announced Monday. Members who join this organization will have a chance to meet outstanding professional people from all over the world and assist at an international convention to be held next spring at the University of Utah, officials stated. H. Parley Kilburn, Utah State Industrial school superintendent, was the featured speaker of the meeting. His subject was "Delinquency and the School Teacher." Musical selections were presented at the club meeting by Nauni Bar-ras and Glen Rudd. Glen Quick was program chairman.
