Everyone started preparing for national defense preparations for defense are always preparations for war but they sound better the other way. Weber college co-eds started their preparation with Charm week. Everyone knew It was Charm week because there were great big signs in the halls. I still think they should have had it this month so they could call it legally the march of charm. Anyway since then, with prices and hair going up as it is, there have been a great many changes here at Weber namely the enrollment. Population went down just like coffee in a silex does when you remove the heat halfway and stops. (If you've got a Silex like ours). If things keep up at this rate maybe I'll get to be the president's secretary. It would be quite wonderful to have an office with a window you could open and not get cold. A lot of my friends have gone to H(U field that's the place where you can take the Bamburger to walk Six miles after and only reach the guard house. Oh, well, military secrets, you know. It is also the place where the girls wear spring coats and regret it. I saw a couple of them last night. Speaking of secretaries here are some things I have learned about the profession so if you're in training take heed. (I just picked these things up.) "Every secretary has a position and that position is not on the bosses knee." "The secretary has white collars, though not all of her collars are white." (I understand from a letter Betty got from a sergeant that Hill field is due for a change of color-negro battalion is on its way. You can't believe that though, because it wasn't censored and so it couldn't possibly be true.) "The secretary types and is typed," by all those but the secretaries as a perfectly wonderful person. Secretaries know better. llThe secretary tries to keep her hands pretty so that when she has to look at the keyboard (which is frequent) she won't be too ashamed." Therefore let us conclue, (that's a hang-over from debate days) that the secretary must know, show, work. Phoenix Takes New Pledges; Is Active in Sports Four fellows are now undergoing a period of humility to prove their worthiness to join the Phoenix club. According to Daniel Drumi-ler, club president, Bud Barrett, Bob Huggins, Boyd Farr, and Raymond Sanders, will appreciate the full implications of joining this organization by the time the goat committee, headed by Max Curtis and Harvey Wheelwright gets through with them. The committee will not be through with them until the end of this quarter. Last week members of Phoenix and partners went bowling and then assembled at the home of Max Curtis for refreshments. Intramurals offer sporting challenges to Phoenix club whose members are eagerly accepting them. That they are meeting them successfully is evidenced by the present standing of Phoenix club in the intramural competition. Jim Murdock, intramural manager, reports that his club is in second place, only seven points behind the leading team, with prospects for many additional points as a result of the basketball tournament. Otyokwa Enjoys Activities During Past Week On Sunday evening, March 15, four new girls were made papooses of the Indian tribe at a candlelight ceremony held at the home of Gloria Hall. The new papooses Mae Tracy, Norma Van Fleet, and Bettie Shaw were presented with gardenia corsages and greeted by their big sisters. Monday noon in the school cafe teria, the Squaws honored their club advisor, Leone Grandy, who is leaving to resume her studies at the Uah State Agricultural college in Logan. During her absence, Mrs. Clarisse Hall will act as the club advisor. At the regular Wednesday evening meeting the Squaws entertained Mrs. Clair Whitely, the former Georgia Brown, who was a member of Otyokwa. The party was in the form of a shower. Refreshments were served and the evening was spent in playing cards. The club is planning a breakfast to be held Easter morning at the Hotel Ben Lomond. Alpha Rho Omegas "Spring Daze" Features Alden Richards Present Boogie Woogie Tavern Assembly Idea "Spring Daze" has been coming for a long time, now it's here. Much comment has been aroused during the past two weeks over this title which is not the results of a grammarian's nightmare nor the results of a weatherman's dream. "Spring Daze" actually will be here tomorrow evening, March 27, at nine p. rain the Weber college ballroom, according to Robert Blakeley advertising manager for Alpha Rho Omega. "Spring Daze" is not only the name but- also the theme which this young club has selected for the first dance in the history of it's organization. Developments up to the present indicate that the debut will be very successful. Alden Richards, and Ms 12-piece orchestra, will present the music for the evening's entertainment. This orchestra has made its niche in the hearts of the dance lovers of Salt Lake City and will undoubtedly do the same here, stated Blakeley. The price of admission is 75 cents per couple. Tickets may be purchased from any member of Alpha Rho Omega or at the door. Members are: Dick Isbell, Ted Thorsted, Robert Keyes, Robert Blakeley, Darrell Madsen, D. R. Burt, Lawrence D.
