Weber Instructors Train Officers At Clearfied Navy Supply Depot A training program at Clearfield Naval Supply Depot was set up by Mr. C. W. Barton, Training Officer, after consultation with Dr. H. Aldous Dixon, President of Weber Junior College, his assistant, Dr. Robert Clarke, and members of his faculty, including Dr. Dello Dayton, Professor Leland Monson and Professor Thatcher Allred. Some of the best instructors in the state were made available through the Weber Junior College faculty in further cooperation with the State Department of Education. As an example, Dr. Dello Dayton, of the Weber junior college faculty, is delivering the series of lectures on economics. Dr. Leland Monson and Professor Thatcher Allred are conducting courses on public speaking. All courses are scheduled as part gram. Classes are held in conference and assembly rooms at the Depot, with instructors driving 11 miles from the city to take charge. College credit is arranged for both public speaking and economics courses if any of the students desire it. Funds for payment of the instructors are arranged through the State Department of Education, at no cost to the Navy. Personnel attending the lectures are divided into classes according to the supervisory level in which they are employed. Attendance is set up on a rotating plan so that the necessary amount of supervision is obtained by all departments while approximately twenty-five per cent of their supervisory personnel are attending classes. This training program recently was praised by Mr. Albert G. Ber-gesen, Personnel Director of the Twelfth Naval District, during an inspection tour of the Clearfield Depot. Hairy Poem Mary had a little lamb, But didn't like it white; For everyone that had a lamb, Was sure to have one white. So Mary dyed her little lamb, Which went a gorgeous brown; And now she's known by all her friends As the best lamb-dyer in town. Ftz. "A TRIBUTE TO THE 1951 GRADUATES OF WEBER COLLEGI . . . A Stort Tale There was once a little dog who always chased the Bamburger. One day he slipped and slid under the wheel of the vehicle, losing some three inches from the end of his tail. He picked up the little tidbit from the street and deposited it on his master's porch. As his master came out the door on his way to work the next day, he found the bit of tail and threw it across the street. However, when he returned from work he dropped the tender morsel on a passing truck (causing the driver to get a little behind in his work), but still when evening came the tail was still on the porch. The vexed master tried sewers, airplanes, burials, cats, and a number of places to dispose of the dog's tail but all to no avail, so let this little tale prove to you that a dog is always faithful to the end. Alpha Rho Omega " The Bear Lake party was more fun than a barrel of monkeys; we didn't have the barrel, but we had all the monkeys, and it was sure a lot of fun," states Blaine Taylor, newly elected president of Alpha Rho Omega. With Dennis Jay as vice president; Dell Foutz, secretary; Ken Nelson, treasurer; and Doug Orchard, sergeant of arms; President Taylor is planning more parties for the summer that will be "just as good as the Bear Lake party." Blaine reports that although the club was cut to only one-fourth its original size, former President Dick Slater worked hard to hold the fellows together so that Alpha Rho's dance was a great success and the club was able to scrape up a fat 100 for the Student Union Building. Since the dark days of the first draft calls and eager enlistments of Alpha Rho boys, the club has had several parties of its own as well as the exchanges with the girls' clubs. Fred Rabe, who is advisor of the club, was able to join the boys with their dates at Bear Lake. Mr. Rabe and an active Alumni group has supported Alpha Rho with everything from the Collegiate Promenade to regular Wednesday meetings. He's not much of a traffic cop but he'll do in a pinch.
