P The approach of election day is a reminder that there are city offices soon to be filled, which will receive the attention of the voters. Of the many positions which will give the honest citizens a chance to place a man in office, there is none that should call for a man of more sterling worth and known character than that of mayor of Ogden. There will soon be a vacancy in this office, and already there arc aspirants. Of the two candidates, we believe that one will prove objectionable to a large majority of the business men of the city. William Glasmann, to whom we refer, is anything but a corn petent man to fill the office. We do not wish to be severe with him, for his common sense (if he have any) should have relieved him of the embrassment if he is capable of being embrassed that he will likely in his efforts to be mayor; but in the we are absence of that to declare that The certainly compelled Utah State Journal, at least and we believe there are many other business houses would not care to trust its business in his hands. We want an honest, energetic, bright man in the office, in whom implicit trust can be reposed; we want a courteous, affable official; we want an official who will and just alike to political be friend and foe. No one who knows William Glasmann will warrant that he answers that description of a mayor; and it is amazing that the political tricksters with whom he trains and whose boss and dictator he is, should have the temerity to go into a convention mainly composed of honest men and women and advocate his nomination, when there were plenty of capable, honest Republicans in the city who were willing to accept of the office, and who, we have been informed, were applicants, but were overruled by the Murphy machine. We object to a man of the stamp of Mr. Glasmann, and hope to see him ignominiously defeated. The above was not taken bodily from the Bill Standard, but it reads very much like an editorial that was printed in that delectable sheet March 2, 1897. We wonder if Fosmaster Charlie Meighan and his friends have forgotten the day and date? en-count- er Ad We live by our blood, and on it. We thrive or starve, as our blood is rich or poor. There is nothing else to live on or by. . When strength is full and spirits high, we are being re freshed, bone muscle and brain, in body and mind, with continual flow of rich blood. This is health. When weak, in low spirits, no cheer, no spring, when rest is not rest and sleep is not sleep, we are starved ; our blood is poor; there is little nutriment in it. Back of the. blood, is food, to keep the blood rich. When it fails, take Scotts Emulsion of Cod Liver Oil. It sets the whole body going again man woman and child. The conventiou reassembled at the appointed hour. The news had gone forth that Mr. Scowcroft had reconsidered his refusal to run for mayor and would accept the nomination, if such was the wish of the convention.
