Word came to Ogden Sunday from Fossil, Wyo., to the effect that oil had been struck by the Wyoming Paraffine Oil company of Pocatello, in their well on section 26, one mile south of the old Clark wells. The oil is of dark brown color and good quality. The information came in the form of a telegram to Ogden parties from P. L. Griffin of the company, an experienced oil man, who has been through the California oil field excitement. The boring by the company which struck the oil wa9 commenced only a week before, but this is accounted for by the fact that a new hydraulic machine does the boring, and for purposes of exploration only. No tubing A is put down, but a hole is drilled merely for the purpose of determining if oil exists and of obtaining samples. Repobliras City Ticket.
