Show AN IMOliTANT IXDIVI'HY, On the 1st of this month, William G. Miles of this city, shipped by wagon to Milford for the Horn Silver Mining Company a large grindstone, 3 feet in diameter, 4-inch face, and weighing 3u0 lbs. These stones were recommended recom-mended to the H. S, M. Co. as first-class first-class by Silver Bros, of Salt Lake City, who purchased one about eighteen months ago from Mr. Miles weighing B'ifi lbs for their large iron works in Salt Lake City, Mr. Miles has furnished furnish-ed quite a number of these large Stones to different company's in this state and Nevada besides the common-sked grindstones, and all testify very highly to their merits. Should a railroad be built to or near St, George, these stones would become an important item of transportation as they Would be manufactured manu-factured much more extensively than at'pi'esent. Mr. Miles has an extensive quarry of what is known as "Diamond Valley Grit, " and anticipates supplying supply-ing this whole western country with this much-needed article of farm and mechanical industry as soon as transportation trans-portation facilties are easier than at present. The grindstones mostly vised in this western country come largely from Borea, Ohio, and other eastern places. The money sent for them could be kept in the west |
