Show C. of C. Directors Hold First Meeting Of Year; Plan Program Election of a president, vice-president and secretary-treasurer; committee com-mittee heads and the formulating of a plan for the annual membership member-ship drive, were among the topics considered by the board 'of directors direc-tors of the St. George chamber of commerce at their meeting held last Tuesday night. J. L. Wadsworth was re-elected president by acclamation with Harold Miles being accorded a full vote for vice-president. Laron Andrus and Howard Cannon were candidates for secretary with the most votes going to Mr. Andrus, who has been secretary for the past two years. Committee chairmen were announced an-nounced as follows: Educational committee, Maurice J. Miles; advertising ad-vertising and publicity, supervision of secretary; roads, Newell R. Frei; program committee, Howard Cannon; public health, K. D. Williams; Wil-liams; civic committee, J. T. Atkin Jr. Other matters discussed included in-cluded plans for a music festival at the Dixie college with Kane and Washington counties in Utah, and Lincoln and Clark counties in Nevada, participating. Also the matter of the Youth Convention of the M.I.A. was considered with the group going on record in favor of it. The secretary was instructed to write a letter to the Department Depart-ment of Indian affairs or other agencies if necessary, regarding the construction of a road over the Indian reservation connecting with the roads to Gunlock and Motoqua. Also to write the state road commission asking the meaning mean-ing of the statement in the Tribune Tri-bune that said that "it was likely that $70,000 would be spent on the Snow Canyon road". |
