Show Funeral Services Held In Bunkerville For James S. Abbott BUNKERVILLE, Nev. Funeral services were conducted in the Bunkerville ward hall Wednesday, Sept. 20, for James S. Abbott, 76, who died Monday after an extended ex-tended illness following an auto accident in which he was injured. The services were in charge of Bp. Austin Hunt, with music numbers num-bers by the ladies chorus and a vocal duet, "Good Night and Good Morning" by Mrs. Erma Leavitt and Leland Lamoreaux. Speakers were Lawrence Abbott of Delta; Thomas Abbott of Mes-quite; Mes-quite; Harold R e b e r, Warren Hardy, President Bryan L. Bunker Bun-ker of Las Vegas. All praised Mr. Abbott for his useful life and paid tribute to him for his service to the community and to his church, for his faithful labors and fine qualities. Burial was in the Bunkerville cemetery. Born in Ogden, Jan. 24, 1868, he was a son of Myron and Laura J. Allen Abbott, early L. D. S. pioneers to Utah. He came to southern Utah and on into Nevada. On August 19, 1892, he married Chloie Robison in the St. George Temple. For many years they have made their home in Bunkerville. Bunker-ville. He served as clerk of Bunkerville Bun-kerville ward for 40 years and for 42 years was postmaster, filling fill-ing both of these positions with honor. Surviving besides his widow are four sons; Robert L. Abbott, Los Angeles; James Ivan Abbott, Las Vegas; Delmon Abbott, Portland, Port-land, Oregon; Stephen Abbott, with the armed forces; eight daughters; Mrs. Marvel Pendleton, St. George; Mrs. Myrtle Ence and Mrs. Irma Smith, Bunkerville; Mrs. Birdie Hurgens, Glendale, Calif.: Mrs. Rodella Austergard, Boulder City; Mrs. Serene Zicmer. Bunkerville; Mrs. Adelia Mclntyre. Portland and Mrs. Jean Hughes. Phoenix; 31 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. |
