Show Funeral Services Held Here For Mrs. ! Marie E. Van Leuven Funeral services were held in the south ward chapel at 10 a.m. Friday, March 15 for Mrs. Marie E.Van Leuven, 88, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Isaac Aldridge late Wednesday evening after a prolonged illness. The services were in charge of Bp. Andrew McArthur with Mrs. Ada Cannon at the organ. Speakers were Bp. Roy Bundy, of Mt. Trumbull ward, where Mrs. Van Leuven lived for several years after coming from Old Mexico, and President Harold S. Snow, of the St. George Temple. Both told of their association with the deceased and with her family members in this vicinity. They paid tribute to her courage as a mother and as a pioneer. She has been a pioneer of Utah, of Arizona, of Old Mexico and was known for her thrift, her fearless compliance wilh the tenets of her faith, her endurance under obstacles ob-stacles and hardships of newly settled country and her religious activities especially in the relief society. She served as president of the Mt. Trumbull ward relief society at the age of 75 and has often been commended for her accomplishments in this work. Most of the living children, the brothers and sisters and many grandchildren of the deseased were present at the funeral services. ser-vices. The body was accompanied by many friends and relatives to Mt. Trumbull where interment was made Friday evening, Mr. Van Leuven was buried there in 1919. |
