Show WOlSloM Daughter of Rockville Pioneers Pio-neers Died Here Following Operation Performed in Hope of Saving Her Life Mrs. Clara Dennett DeMille Connell, 5 4, of Rockville, died Tuesday morning at the Washington Wash-ington County hospital following an operation performed on December De-cember 30, in the hope of prolonging pro-longing her life. She had never recovered from the shock of the death of her daughter, Nona May Langston last spring, and about the middle of December was confined to her bed. She had recovered sufficiently to spend Christmas day with her parents, but was obliged to come to St. George for treatment a few days later. Mrs. Connell was born December Decem-ber 5, 1877, at Rockville, a daughter of John and Rebecca Dennett. She was married to Ira DeMille in the St. George temple tem-ple on July 30, 1S96, and to them were born eight children. Mr. DeMille died in 19 IS on the same day and month of the year, January 5, at almost the same hour as she passed away. . She was remarried to James Connell of Parowan on May 9, 1928, and after her marriage moved to Parowan where she lived for nearly two years, returning re-turning to Rockville in the fall of 1929. Surviving are her husband, and the following children by her first marriage: Guy DeMille, Rockville; Mrs. Lola Belle Bry-ner, Bry-ner, Leeds; Roachie DeMille, Salt Lake City, Mrs. Allie Hir-schi, Hir-schi, Hurricane; Richard DeMille, De-Mille, Las Vegas, and Edwin and Maida, students at the Hurri cane nign scnooi. uuiei suivivuio are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Dennett, Rockville, two brothers and five sisters, and 15 grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 6, in the Rockville meeting house under the direction of Bishop Philetus Jones. Music was furnished by the Rockville ward choir, the opening number being "Rock of Ages". Prayer was by Samuel Crawford Craw-ford of Springdale. The choir sang "Nearer My God to TheG". Speakers were Bishop Jones, Elder Alvin Allred. Springdale; L. N. Marsden. Jr., Parowan; Heber Ilirschi. Glenn E. Snow, principal of the Hurricane high school; Freeborn Gifford. Spring-days, Spring-days, and President Claud Ilirschi Ilir-schi of Hurricane. All spoke eloquently of the life of the departed. de-parted. The closing song was "I'll Go Where You Want Me to Go". Benediction was by Moses Gifford Gif-ford of Springdale. and the grave was dedicated by Boyd Dennett. Coach Elmer Graff and the basketball team of the Hurricane Hurri-cane high school were present at the services. Edwin DeMille is a player on the team. |
