Show JDOUBMTES Couple Died Within Few Hours; Buried in Single Grave in the Enterprise i Cemetery Last Sunday j The community of Enterprise, i and relatives and friends all through the county were shocked ' and maddened -last week e:;d at the sudden deaths of Mirs. Mary Jane Truman at Enterprise, and her daughter, Mrs. Clarissa Elizabeth Eliz-abeth Hunt at Salt Lake City, which occurred within a few hours time. AVord was sent to Enterprise Monday from the Hunts at Salt Lake City that Mrs. Hunt's condition con-dition was serious, and her father, fa-ther, William T. Truman and two sons left to be with her. She underwent an operation Wednesday Wednes-day morning for cancer of the stomach, and died Thursday at 1:20 p. m. Arrangements were made to bring the body to Enterprise En-terprise for burial, and the father fa-ther and brothers returned home arriving at 4:30 Friday morning. morn-ing. At 8:15 o'clock Mrs. Truman suffered a paralytic stroke and died at 1:10 a. m. Saturday. Double funeral services were held Sunday in the Enterprise ward meeting house under the direction of Bishop Joseph A. Terry. Music was furnished by the ward choir under the direction di-rection of William Staheli, the opening song being "How Firm ; a Foundation." Invocation was by Elder L. M. j Terry ' and the choir sang "Glo-: "Glo-: rfous Things are Sang of Zion." The speakers were Elders Edward Ed-ward R. Frei of Santa Clara, Elmer Sahin and Ezra Edman, Salem ; Henry and F. J. Bowler, Bow-ler, Gunlock; Benjamin Chad-bum, Chad-bum, Veyo, and George A. Holt and B. C. Farnsworth of Enterprise. Enter-prise. A duet, "Whispering Hope", was sung by Mrs. Alta Truman and Miss Ruth Allen, and the choir sang, "Oh, My Father", and "I Know That My Redeemer Redeem-er Lives". The benediction was offered by William Lund. The two were buried .in a single sin-gle grave, which was dedicated by George O. Holt. Many beautiful beau-tiful floral offerings decorated the mound. Freinds and relatives were present from Idaho, Salt Lake, Salem, Cedar City, St. George, Santa Clara, Veyo, Gun-lock Gun-lock and Nevada. It was one of the largest funerals ever held in Enterprise. Mary Jane Truman was born at Hebron, on October 11, 1868, a daughter of Jonathan and Clarissa Cla-rissa Hunt. She was married on March 11, IS 8 6, to William T. Truman in the St. George temple, tem-ple, and was the mother of twelve children, ten of whom are living, as follows: Jacob, William, Wil-liam, Jr., Alma, Heber, Mrs. Rose Barlocker, Mis. Roxie Barlow, Mrs. Roy Staheli, Mrs. Ray Staheli, Sta-heli, Mrs. Clifford Hall and Mrs. Grant Clove, also 44 grandchildren, grandchil-dren, eleven great grandchildren, two brothers, Henry and Amos Hunt of Gunlock. All her children chil-dren were present at her bedside when she passed away. Clarissa Elizabeth Hunt was born in Hebron on March 20, 1SS7, and was married in the St. George temple in 1902 to Zera Hunt. She is survived by her husband and four sons: Wil-ford. Wil-ford. M.ilton. Thomas and Bert, a daughter, Mrs. Lula May Heb-don, Heb-don, and eleven grandchildren. All were present at the funeral services. |
