FERGUSON DIED JUNE 1 4, ; AFTER SERIOUS ILLNESS I Funeral services for Mrs. Win- nifred Franklin Ferguson, who I died, June 14, following several i years suffering with a cancer I were held Monday evening at i 6:00 p.m. in the stake taberna-J taberna-J cle under the direction of the i South Ward Bishopric. ! Mrs. Ferguson was born, No-! No-! vember 9, 1S87 at Alamosa, Col-: Col-: orado. a daughter of Williajn Bryant and Augusta Divine. She ! came to St. George a number ' of years ago because of the poor 'health of her husband. Edward Franklin. They made their home here later moving to the Arizona Strip and to Las Vegas, Nevada. After the death of Mr. franklin j she came back to St. George ' with her three children. She later married Henry Ferguson who with her three children survive her. I '-Face to Face" was sung by t the South Ward quartet composed compos-ed of William A. Whitehead. Mrs. Alice Cannon and Mr. and Mrs. Pratt -Miles accompanied bv Mrs. Lucile Pitchforth. " The opening prayer was offered offer-ed bv Josiah Leavitt. a neighbor. A vocal duet. "In the Garden" was given by Mr. and Mrs. Pratt Miles. Elder Richard A. Morns, who had been a friend of Mrs. Ferguson Fer-guson for a number of years told of his association with her; of her fine character and the good christian life she lived. He then praved that the Lord would bless them in their sorrow. - s. Baker. worthen Elder George W. spoke of her sterling, steadfast character. "There is a ce tan "and we love them even thong. wae",de known them but a short time That attraction is the spirit and now this woman s spirit has gone back to God who gave it and her body is . dead and helpless. If we could on y realize our mission or one-tenth part of our existance before we came to this earth how wonderful wonder-ful it would be." Mr. Worthen continued by quoting from tn.o scriptures regarding the conditions condi-tions in the spirit world and stated that we worked and fought for freedom and the privilege of coming here at the time of the great war in heaven. "We advanced as far as we could there," said Mr. - Worthen, "and then were privileged to come here and this sister has lived a good life here and will go to a place prepared for her." He spoke on the mission of Christ and the resurrection and stated we would meet our loved ones again, and asked that we might all read the Bible that our hearts might be filled with joy at the promises made and with comfort at this timP. His closing clos-ing prayer was that the blessings of the Lord be on her husband and her children. Bishop Harold 3. Snow spoke of the wonderful character of this woman as he had known her and especially of his association associa-tion with her children in school who were both fine students. "Francis was an honor student." said Mr. Snow, "Mrs. Ferguson tried to make them fine and hone.st and helpful and always willing to serve." Mr. Snow then thanked all of those who had taken any part in the services ser-vices and those who had helped in any vav in the. home. The quartet sang, Th2 Old Rugged Cross," and the closing prayer was offered by Joseph Alsop, a neighbor. |
