Show FUNERAL HONORS AGED MATRON Funeral services, for Agnes F. Horsley Gubler who died at her home in Santa Clara on Tuesday, Tues-day, June 21, were held there last Thursday under the direction direc-tion of Bishop Vivian J. Frei. The opening song was "Bea-tiful "Bea-tiful Home", followed by prayer by Orval Hafen. A male quartet, composed of Ernest Reber, June Gubler, Henry Graff and Vivian Frei sang "Lead Me Gently Home". Speakers were Arthur K. Hafen, Ha-fen, Harmon Haifen, Edward R. Frei, and Bishop Frei.' A"'tri6',' "Mother of Mine", was sung by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Graff and Mrs. Vivian Frei, and for a closing clos-ing song a quartet eang "My Home Land". Benediction was by Lorenzo C. Leavitt. Mrs. Gubler was born April 14, 1859, in England, and came to America in 1886. She stayed for a few months with an uncle at Centerville, and the following spring moved to Santa Clara. She was a Sunday school teacher for a time, but after her marriage to Casper Gubler and she started rearing a family, she was released. She was industrious and dili- gent worker in the church. She j met with many hardships and i trying circumstances in raising i her family owing to the fact that j she was in a new land, and she. j her aunt and a sister, were the j only English people in the com-! munity. She is survived by six sons and daughters, 26 grandchildren j and fourteen great-grandchildren. I |
