"We had a pretty good response— people went to the things they wanted to do," owner Allen Bluth said. Bluth owned a similar gym on Main petes at the national level. "Everybody loved our demonstrations on Saturday-it drew the biggest crowd of the day," Thornton said. "We demonstrated person would Street, but soon outgrew it's cramped quarters. The classes, which are offered Monday and Wednesdays along with kickboxing classes Tuesday and Thursday, are a good chance to beat the summertime blues-especially for those children who are out of school. ''There’s not much for kids to do except school sports, so kids need something to do," Thornton said. The kickboxing classes are ily swim events on Fridays and Saturdays. And although summertime isn't the ideal time to open a gym with many outdoor activities available, Bluth feels like a great facility and new equipment will be a winning combonation. Also, it doesn't hurt to be the only gym in town. "We've had a good response, and members have come back. It's been a big undertaking," Bluth said. It gave new head coach Lonnie Magnusson a chance to meet players and assess talent. "It gave me an idea about work ethic, and who wanted to improve, Magnusson said. "She's got a good following of people." Bluth has other things planned for the Fit Stop's future, such as water rehabilitation, triathlon training where athletes will run a treadmill, cycle on the excercise bikes, and swim in the lap pool.
