No. XXNXIII This and That BY g. b. a A Column of Comment Wise and Otherwise One hundred and four gaily dressed, hright-eye- d youngsters making up Lincolns graduating class made an imprsive picture as they filed on the stage last Thursday evening at the high school's annual graduation exercises. One could hardly blame Principal Warnlck for not finding enough room for them on the small stage, and his statement that he was somewhat like the old woman who lived In the Bhoe was certainly appropo. The exercises were carried on in a manner which pleased the large audience; an audience, by the way, which would have been at least a thousand more in number had the auditorium been large enough to accommodate them. The speeches given by members of the class were of very high order. The high school orchestra and chorus as usual enlivened the proceedings. When Mr. Warnick in a few well chosen words presented the class to Alpine school board member, S. H. Blake, there were many pardonable expressions of pride on the faces of the parents. Garth Boyce, student body president who presided. Bald he forgot his speech and made a much better one impromptu. At least the audience enjoyed hie statement that he had one more opportunity to make his folks feel proud of him. Principal W'arnick, the faculty, and the parents deserve congratulations on the fine class of graduates. Anu the graduates easily carried off the honors as the largest class ever to graduate at Lincoln and with one of the finest pro, grams presented by any of the outgoing classes. . j QruJvw Notes on the Burn lloor Department It looks as though the Orem business mens organization is not a flash in the pan, as some predicted it would be. B. 8.: note that the summer dancing season is on again. This brings to my mind a question that I tried to answer last season. Why is it that many of the young people of Sharon seem to prefer to dance at the commercial resorts rather than at their own recreation center? I Yours etc., An Interested Citizen. This column don't know the answer to this question. We have passed by the Rusalawn recreation renter many times when dances were in progress. Although we dont dance, we were sorely tempted by the beauty of the surroundings to stop and take a try at it. We have heard many people who are qualified to know say that the Rosalawn recreation center is one of the finest in the state of Utah, if not in the United States, for a rural community no larger than Sharon. It far surpasses any commercial resort in the county in its beauty of surroundings and in its facilities for enjoyment. Why anyone, who enjoys dancing should pass it up, is beyond us. BERRY PRICES GOING UP. Good news to Orem berry growers wss voiced by Mr. Stratton to the Chamber members in the statement that the demand Is kpen for Orem berries, and prices are rising, instead of the usual slump. This is due to a poor crop on the coast and in the North west partly, he stated, but it is also due to the fact that local growers know they have a good product and are refusing to be tricked into lowering their prices by transient buyers.
