The first issue of which will appear in the October number of the 'Voice of Sharon. Ihe combining of the school news with the stake news makes it possible for inparents and graduates to keep formed of the activities of school. If you had gone into room 8 during the sixxih period, you would have seen Wayne Bellows sitting at the desk triyng to figure out which one should address the chair first, Lov ell Christensen, or Spencer liunn. As things proceeded, you would have found that Stanley Farley had just become ihe new class president with Kleva Fountin Phyllis Farley secretary, and Jack Conder and Lenora Ashton cheer leaders. The coming year certainly looks bright for the Seniors. Did someone say the seniors were going to have a Senior Flop I'll say they did. It's this year? going to be bigger and better than ever. Say, with the lively committee, it ought to be a whizz. Ruth Hansen is chairman, with the following assistants: Grant Elliott, Donna Davis, Lowell Biglow, and Come and see Herbert Johnson. the Seniors at their last Hop. On Friday, September 18, Lincoln held its first official assembly in the high school auditorium. Don Watkins, last year's president, presented newly Bellows, Wayne elected student body president, with the key to the student body. This presentation is traditional and signifies the opening of a new season. Each student body officer gave a short talk presenting their intentions for the coming year. With the help of the students, their intentions should be realized. Mr. Terry sang "Goodbye, and Glenn Vernon played a clarinet solo. Madge Lewis Pres. Miss Marco White from Bountithe high ful, Utah, is heading school English department, sucMiss Katherine Grow, ceeding whose marriage of the late summer left a vacancy in the faculty. Miss White will also act as advisor to the Live Wire staff. Decker of Miss Glenaveve Snowflake, Arizona, will head the Junior English department in place of Thomas Cordnor who has been transfered to the position of official librarian and research supervisor. The students of Lincoln bid them welcome and wish them a pleasant year. Lincoln Sophomore Class Election For the purpose of electing class officers, the sophomores met in the school auditorium on Wednesday, September 19, 1936. The officers for the year 1936-3- 7 are as follows: Heber Ivins President Norma Dunford Vice President ....James Baird Secretary-TreasurMario Bussio Athletic Manager Yell Leaders, Virginia Jolley and Rowena Clinger. With these able officers to lead the class, the sophomores should have a banner year. er During the past year many improvements have been made at the Lincoln Jligh School. Previously, there has been an overcrowded condition in the shower rooms. The schoolboard, knowing this, had plans drawn up for new and better shower rooms. These beautiful rooms have just been completed, and are now ready for use. This new addition has created a greater enthusiasm among the students for physical education work. A larger and more complete library has just been finished to aid the students in their research and reference work. Students also have access to the best fictiorthat is published. Another project, the beautifying of the school grounds, has been very successful during the summer months. Lawns and shrubbery have been planted east of the building a id to the extreme west. This, along with the removal of the iron fence in front, has greatly improved the appearance of the entire building. A swimming pool and a dance pavilion have aiso been added to on the the list of improvements school campus. These projects were sponsored by the Scera organization. The students In the school, as well as the public, have spent and many an enjoayble hour here, are looking forward to many more. New English Seminary News Two Teachers at L.H.S. Items Sharon Stake Seminary is Off to a good start this year. There are the following courses being given in the Senior High School division: three sections of Old Testament history, three of New Testament and two of Church History and Doctrine. There are registered up to date 255 students in these courses a marked increase in numbers compared with the enrollment at the same time last year. Two new text Cooks are in use this year, "Story of the Old J. A. Washburn and for student in that division and The Restored Church" by Vm. Berrett, a text for use in Church History and Doctrine. The students are anxious to work and seem desirous of learning. They appear to have a motive and purpose for being in seminary classes. The teachers report that they are very pleased ana happy in the outlook for the work this year. The courses in these classes are along the field of character development as exemplified in biograpies.
