However, it wasn't considered necessary to wait until all the finishing touches had been taken care of before opening the pool. This being an outdoor pool and the season being rather short at best, it was decided to have the formal opening even though all the accessories to the pool may not be completed on June 6th. The Scera management has engaged the services of Sanky Dixon to manage the pool. He is to be assisted by Milton Bellows and Clifton Patten, two young men of the community who have won life saving awards. and races water Swimming games of various kinds have been arranged by Mr. Dixon to feature the opening festivities. Prizes are to be given the winners It is hoped that a diving exhibition may also be given, but due to the uncertainty of the diving equipment arriving in time, this feature may have to be passed by. As a special feature Mr. Roy Passey will give demonstrations on life saving. It will not be necessary to make entries in advance to participate in the swimming races. Just prove your place of residence and that is all that will be necessary. Mr. Dixon is arranging to have prizes given by various sporting goods houses to each of the winners of the events. After the opening ceremonies are over at the pool, and everyone has had all the swimming he wants, one of the Senior base ball league games will be plajed on the South t.eld. Guls soft ball will be underway on the lawn North of the Seminary and the l.wn in front of the Spencer school. Junior base ball will occupy the diamond immediately east of the swimming pool. It is expected to have all of these games in operation at once. Swimming will also continue from two oclock until everybody has had enough for the day. The pool is constructed ,of reinforced concrete, and is forty feet wide and seventy feet long. The South end of the pool is three and feet deep and the depth gradually increases to seven and feet at the North end. Clear, Sparkling Water The pool will be filled with clear, water which will be sparkling chlorinated to remove all danger of infection of any kind.
