Show THE VOICE OF SHARON PAGE FOUR CARNIVAL SUPPLEMENT Sam Howa, Famous Magician, Coming to Sharon Carnival Farmers Urged to Select Only Lunch Will Be Served in Very Produce for Quality Showing Unique Style Slated for Carnival Appearance Freak Fruits and Vegetables will be Shown; struction in Preparing Produce Given; Committees Are Named In- During Carnival Day be sure to visit the Fruit and Vegetable of the Lincoln High. This year all of the Exhibit in the wards are pooling together to make one big fine exhibit. . Fruit and vegetables will not be sold from the exhibit, so it will not be disturbed during the day. All fruit and vegetables arranged in plates and packed boxes will be judged and first, second, and third places will be awarded ribbons.. Packed boxes are to be made up at the growers home and plates and trays will be arranged at the exhibit. Plates and trays will be furnished. Besides the main exhibit some side features should prove very hall-wa- y interesting. One corner will be filled with freaks or unusual fruits and vegetables or eggs, etc. Nearly every boy in the stake could find something of this sort on his farm. Another correr will be filled with the largest samples of every variety of fruit and vegetable. For both of these features good prizes will be awarded. Boys or girls who exhibit the largest Jonathan apple, the largest Bartlett pear, the largest squash, the largest water melon, or 'the largest anything of any variety of fruit or vegetable will be given a prize. An egg exhibit will also be displayed from the Bunker farms. The following people will represent each ward in carripg on the exhibit: Vinejard, Clouide Stone and Ariel Larson; Lake View, Erwin ; Bunnell and and Grand View, Charles Davies Clinton Hills ; Pleasant View, Edve H. Long and A. Ray Ekins; Edge-moWilford Gillespie and Howard Sharon, E. H. Calder and Ferguso! Orson Prestwich; Timpanogos, Ray Loveless and Jesse Cordner. The exhibit will be planned and . arranged by the following committee: Professor Seth Shaw of tha, B.Y.U. Roy E. Park, and Donna Pa( Prolessor L. S. Morris Horn tne B.Y.U. will judge the fruits and Lee Clark, Ag. teacher at the Pleasant Grove High School will judge - the vegetables. County Agent, Lyman H. Rich, is advertising manager. Rules for the exhibit will be the same as those for the county fair: A plate shall consist of five specimens of apples, pears and peaches, three bunches of grapes and enough prunes or plums to cover an eight inch plate. The score card for apples, pears, peaches, plums and prunes: form IS, size IS, color 20, uniformity 20, con100. dition 30 Form is the form characteristic of the particular variety, size requirements of U. S. No. 1 will be used basis for scoring; color judgment will be based on the color characteristic of the variety; uniformity depends on likeness of form, size, color and condition refers to the condition; physical state of the fruit, also the presence of any blemishes. Codling motl stings, limb rub, skin punctures, absence of stems are considered serious blemishes, broken stems will be considered a less serious blemish and codling moth worms or San Jose scale will disqualify any exhibit.
