Si b mum UtikilcW? 1 SHARON WARD MEMBERS AND CHAPEL Four and a Half Millions Alloted By Goverhment For Large Utah Projects ' v ' r , ) From Washington comes the jubilant news that $4,500,000.00 have been alloted to Utah by the Public Works Administration in contemplation of four major projects to be advanced within the state, and which will employ thousands of Utah men. Perhaps of greatest importance to our own immediate locality is the Deer Creek Dam, largest of the ventures. Its completion will require an expenditure of some $9,974,000, $3,200,000 of which has been appropriated for initial work. Will Affect Sharon Stake Governor Henry H. Farnworth of Sharon was sustained as High Councilman in charge of Primaries in Sharon stake. He takes the place of B. Manning Jolley, who was appointed Boshop of the Sharon ward. Brother Farnsworth was set apart by President Heber J. Grant. Brother Farnworth comes to his of the new position with the bless-nentire stake. He is a devoted Latter-da- y Saint and has long been in intimate contact with boys and girls of Primary age. His love for them and profound interest in them, will make him especially valuable in the position to which he has been called. At the present time he is serving on the stkke board of the M. I. This ward is a powerful unit in Sharon Stake, and was reorganized last October first. B. M. Jolley was chosen bishop and set apart in the last quarterly conference by President Heber J. Grant. His councilors are Wm. S. Park, and Kenneth McEwan. According to bishop jolley, the ward is in a healthy, thriving condition. Kartchner, Jr, of the Grandview- - ward will sail from San Francisco, December 12 on the S. S. Monterey to fill a mission in the Hawaiian Islands. Elder Kartchner is the sixth of the Kartchner family to have filled a mission. Sharon stake is proud of such a splendid missionary record of one of its families. The blessings of the entire stake go with Harold in his missionary efforts. Farnworth, Stake "M Men supervisor. Very urgent business is to be discussed in the M Men division relative to basketball for the coming winter season. An important part of the meeting will be devoted to the formation of a Stake M Men and Gleanor organization.' Such a unit has long been necessary in the stake; and the M. I, A. officers are anxious for the wholehearted cooperation of all ward M Men and Gleanor Girl officers in efthe fecting the new organization. Two projects which are to be undertaken during the coming yeaj were discussed by Principal B. M. Jolley. The first was the beautification of the grounds in front o fthe Spencer Monday night, Parent-Teacher- On Sunday, November 19, 1911, a meeting was held in the Sharon school house, for the purpose of organizing a ward and chooling a bishopric. The' meeting was under the direction of the Utah stake presidency, with Joseph B. Keeler at its head. D. D. McEwan was chosen bishop, with Paul Millett, first councilor, Charles Terry, second councilor, and Leo Knight as ward clerk. A building site was then chosen, and purchased from John S. Park, at $225.00, $100 of which was given back as a donation. The follow-inmen were named as a building committee: Wm. Cheeney, John Snow, John S. Park, Mr. Hurler, K. J. Kjar, and David Stratton.
