This is an erroneous assumption, states Miss Hansen, for nicotinic acid sometimes known as Niacin Is not a drug and Is not taken from tobacco. It is a food substance found in grain and some other foods that Is I to good health. The following quotation Is taken from the leaflet published by the Bureau of Home Economics, extension service of the Department of Agriculture and distributed through the coordinator of Health and welfare, office of the Defense activities. It states. Enriched flour flour Is white or near-wtt- e which has In It specified amounts of at least two vitamins, thiamin (Bl) and nicotinic acid. Other foods which are valuable sources of nicotinic acid are lean beef, corned beef, chicken, liver, rabbit, milk, kale, green peas, tomato juice, and turnip greens. Nicotinic acid is not the same as nicotine. It is a vitamin found naturally In wheat and other foods. It has non of the qualities of Nicotine found in tabceo." It la important, states Miss Hansen, that house wives do not confuse this acid with the poison In tabacco, there Is aboslutely no connection and Niacin has been tested and approved by government standards to be of health giving qualities." gv - MV Air Port Instructor Joins Army Air Corp hu 1 ?a in f uiiM HllIJIlM!
