He will be accompanied by local concert pianist Amanda Semadeni and will play a duet with Merietta Oviatt. Tickets for the concert cun be purchased at l.ucks Family Music, Big Foot lly Shop and Music, Chalet, and USOMATA for $5 per person or at the door for $7.50 per person. A reception will be held at the Community House next to the church following the recital. This will be an opportunity to meet with the artist. Duckies' visit to Vernal is sponsored by USOMATA (Uintah School of Music and the Arts), lie will teach all viola students at the school lor three days. He will also make an appearance at the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon at noon Feb. 8 in the 1 Ranch restaurant. Three violists from the Utah Valley Youth Symphony will be in Vernal to attend the Master Class for advanced students taught by Duckies. These three violists, Deslry Strauss, Corinne Versylus and James Fsplin, will be joined by USOMATA's advanced viola students Carly Egbert, Megan McKee and Tyra Anderson. The Master Class will be held at 5 p.m, Feb. 18. in Kingsbury Community Church and is open to the public for $5. Tickets for the recital will also cover entry into the Master Class. This is an opportunity not only to hear advanced violists play but also to observe a master teacher. Duckies started viola lessons at age six in his hometown of Vancouver, British Columbia. By age 16 he was playing with the Oregon Symphony as a featured soloist. He holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music and the New England Conservatory.
