The first four batters for Young's Construction scored in the top of the first inning to give their team a 4-0 lead. Gary Monsen, Karl Nelson and Rick Browning singled and then stomped on home plate on a mighty shot over the fence by Alan McDonald for a grand slam. Craig Monsen singled, singl-ed, but Ron Edwards, Kim Peterson and Jeff Alexander flied out. C & G Aluminum wasn't ready to call it quits in the game of Softball as Marty Curtis and Brady Wood singled. singl-ed. Tom Given came in as a runner for Curtis and scored on a single by Norm Wilberg. Richard Meryhew ripped out a single and knocked in Wood. Chuck McStotts was walked to load up the bases. Bill Hunter singled and the soft-ball soft-ball got by the outfielder and Wiberg, Meryhew and McStotts scored to give C & G Aluminum a 5-4 advantage. Randy Hutchings grounded out, but Hunter scored to give his team a two run lead of 6-4. Randy Stark and Roger Nordgren flied out to end the inning. Young's Construction was blanked in the top of the second inning. Jay Omer flied out and a flying missile by Tom Bauer was snared by shortstop Hutchings. The ball was halfway out of the mitt when caught by Hutchings. Gary Monsen singled, but Nelson grounded out. Hank Cahoon led off with a walk in the bottom of the second inning and an-vanced an-vanced to third base on fly ball outs by Given and Wood. Wiberg was walked, but Meryhew flied out with two men on the base paths. Eight runs in the top of the third in-ing in-ing gave Young's Construction a lead of 12-6. Browning led off with a home run to cut the C & G Aluminum lead to one run at 6-5. C & G Aluminum's shortstop Hutching said, "Don't pitch to him," but the pitcher did anyway and Browning netted a homer. McDonald flied out, but Craig Monsen, Edwards and Peterson singled singl-ed to load up the bases. Alexander hit a shot between the third baseman's legs and Monsen and Edwards scored to put Young's Construction back into the lead at 7-6. Omer flied out, but Bauer singled in Peterson with an 8-6 lead. Gary Monsen singled and Nelson hit a shot just in front of the left fielder, who let the ball get by him and enabl- ed Nelson to gain an inside the park grand slam which drove in Alexander, Bauer and Gary Monsen with a 12-6 lead. Browning flied out to end the inning. C & G Aluminum was blanked in the bottom of the third inning, but Young's Construction was not as they pounded the opposing pitcher for eight runs for a 20-6 lead in the top of the fourth inning. McDonald led off with a homer and Craig Monsen singled. Edwards ripped rip-ped out a two run homer for a 15-6 lead. Peterson and Alexander flied out, but Omer was walked. Bauer singled down the right field line and Gary Monsen singled to load up the bases. Nelson singled and knocked in Omer and Baker with a 17-6 advantage. Browning, Brown-ing, McDonald and Craig Monsen singled and Monsen, Nelson and Browning scored to put the Young's Construction team up by 14 runs at 20-6. Edwards flied out for the third out. C & G Aluminum was shut out in the bottom of the fourth inning. Nordgren doubled, but Cahoon, Given and Wood committed outs number one, two and three. Young's Construction went down in order in the top of the fifth inning. The C & G Aluminum team got its firepower going in the bottom of the fifth inning as they scored four runs and sliced Young's lead to ten runs at 20-10. Wilberg led off with a single and scored on a double by Meryhew. McStotts singled and Hunter reached first base on a fielder's choice. McStotts was forced out at second base and the throw was low on the shot at the doubleplay at first base. Meryhew scored on the error. Hutchings Hut-chings gained an inside the park homer when the ball got by the outfielder out-fielder and drove in Hunter to cut the Young's lead to ten runs. Stark flied out to shortstop Browning on a diving catch and Nordgren grounded out. Bauer led off with a walk in the top of the sixth inning and Gary Monsen singled. Nelson struck out and the threat died as Browning and McDonald flied out. C & G Aluminum scored one run in the bottom of the sixth inning to slice Young's lead to nine runs at 20-11. Cahoon singled and Given was walked. walk-ed. Wood flied out, but advanced the runners one base. Wiberg flied out and Cahoon scored C & G Aluminum's 11th run. Craig Monsen and Edwards were walked and a single by Peterson scored Monsen. Alexander and Omer singled and Edwards Ed-wards and Peterson crossed home plate. Bauer flied out and Gary Monsen singled to drive in Alexander. Nelson singled to load up the bases and Omer scored on a fly ball out by Browning to put Young's Construction up by 14 runs at 25-11. McDonald ripped out his third homer of the game on a three-run shot, which knocked in Monsen and Nelson. Craig Monsen was walked and Edwards singled. Peterson netted a triple, which drove in Monsen and Edwards with a 30-11 lead. Alexander singled and scored Peterson with Young's 31st run. Omer flied out to end the inning. McStotts and Hunter ripped out doubles in the bottom of the seventh in-ning. in-ning. McStotts scored C & G Aluminum's 12th run. Hutchings was walked, but Stark flied out and Hutchings Hut-chings was picked off at first base for a doubleplay. Norgren flied out to make the final score: Young's Construction Con-struction 31 and C & G Aluminum, 12. The Diggers beat Western Alliance and St. James defeated Budweiser. The Rookies beat Pikes and the Moonshiners Moon-shiners downed PlayerWillyard. C & G Aluminum downed the Diggers and the Outsiders beat Ross Construction. A & A Bailers downed St. James, Strout beat the Wildcatters and Young's Construction downed the Rookies. ERACoke downed Palmers and Target Trucking knocked off the Moonshiners. Six States of Salt Lake City beat Graco in the first round. G & G Aluminum downed the Outsiders Out-siders and Strout beat A & A Bailers by two runs. Young's Construction defeated ERACoke and Six States beat Target Trucking in second round games. C & G Aluminum downed Strout and Young's Construction defeated Six States. A & A Bailers beat PlayerWillyard and Budweiser downed ERACoke. Palmers beat Target Trucking and the Outsiders downed the Wildcatters. A & A Bailers downed Budweiser and Palmers beat the Outsiders. A & A Bailers downed Strout and Six States toppled Palmers. A & A Bailers downed down-ed Six States and lost to C & G Aluminum, 10-3. The Bailers placed third and Six States finished in fourth place.
