agent s office to the effect that the shortage of hay and poor condition of pastures and ranges in some s oin e ot of our sister stats is causing alarm among dairymen and other livestock producers this general alarm has rather taken hold of cattlemen and dairymen in utah we feel sure that this condition is unwarranted provided farmers will conserve very carefully their straw sugar beet tops corn stover and other roughage and will use feed racks which will prevent waste those who need to buy hay bay for winter wl uter feeding should do so early as other states will probably be bidding for our hay our hay crop bear ear Is IB estimated at tons as against tons last year ab Is kno known u ve NN e tarried carried over a large surplus from last year which should put utah in good condition unless we e have an open winter hay will bring a good price tempting farmers to sell would it not be better to buy up some of the cheaper feeder or breeding stock offered for sale and feed our own hay there are now being offered red for sale large numbers of breeding stock and calves in california and in san ran juan county utah anyone interested in securing feeder or breeding stock should report at once no one should unless compelled through force of circumstances sell their surplus feed if he can prepare for judicious buying and feeding |
