meeting ting m was as held at the home of 1 L W curry on the evening of october 4 1917 toi foi this purpose present at this meeting were prominent citizens of venial who signed the membership list and meetings were held from that time and on saturday evening october 13 1917 mrs M NN couley cooley and miss merle mcclintock secretary of the mesa county chantel american red cross spoke on tile the massive work of the organization during these meetings meeting the particular r ork of pe deft ft ing the organization was as carried on alth itil dr gairett 0 donnell at the head it was mas not long before nine branches and tent one auxiliaries weis ith a chairman ove each these branches and aux ll Il laries coveted a geographical limit of five thousand equal e miles with a N population of the office of the red cross the chapter by this time was complete in its organization and beady to begin its membership cam laign and to handle the work of sewing garments knitting and mak surgical loans were handled by committees through the local banks committees were appointed ho however mever to solicit through the coun ty special committees appointed b bi the chapter executive committee foi the handling of all membership drives overseas clothing drives and all the other work mork that furthered the end of the red cross activities 1 the official recoil of the memberships ber ships was and the diffrient organizations of the church of jesus christ of latter day saints of the episcopalian and congregational churches met to do red cross work mork of the auxiliaries of the mormon church the relief society la is entitled to il mention in the uintah county chapter there are thirteen wards of the mormon church and each cn ch one is presided over by a bishop each bishop in these clothing was then examined and sent bent out from the chapter the results of tills this campaign totaled 1886 1856 articles article the 1919 old clothing drive was mas headed by p esq nellie smith and was even moi e successful ful than the first circular letters sent to till all branches bishops JeR eachers chers and the heads of organizations asking their co in this movement I 1 it t was a mark of
