Show largest NAY 01 co ay so ea ore ah state of emali TONS af ORE IN SIGHT within uintah county and only thirty miles from Vern alThe dyer mine sold for F 1 I co make purchase on reservation within the borders of uintah county lies the greatest erea grea tent deposit of copper ore in the state of utah though this immense deposit has haa been discovered for sometime and its existence a matter of common know ledge ledee yet its size extent and availability have scarcely been dreamed of by even the most moat sanguine seeker after mineral wealth nature has showered wealth in many forms forma in a crude state over uintah county with a lavish hand still we little thought that within an easy days ride of the future metropolis of eastern utah lies a mine of fabulous wealth 1 and alid gi gigantic gantle size with the pl ei and fully blocked out by the action of natural agents principally water which has torn deep gulches into the earth rth revealing the hidden wealth in most all large mines thousands t and in some borne instances hundreds of thousands of dollars are spent in development work before the ore is blocked out and the mines begin giving any return upon the capital invested not io in this instance nature has haa already done the development work for the fortunate owners of this new bonanza even before the advent of pick shovel hay r drill upon the property represent of the company have measured he e veins and ore bodies arid and have com buted their contents all that the y owners have to deal with la Is the ques aiton ilon of machinery for treating the ore qt when the machinery is installed they can begin quarrying the ore supplying ahtie te mill from the start if 0 the copper deposit we refer to is 23 baeres acrea the property of the 7 mining company the property is third of the ground located by the much talked of florence mining company the record of the transfer of the 0 by the FI florence Irence people to joseph K mccammon McK ammon and colonel george F timms timma of washington D C was announced in the express of november ath th 1905 the patent to the property pears ears date of august 17 1905 and was recorded october 3rd ard 1905 in the recorders office of uintah county the dext development was the organization of the mining company in which the name of charles S carter appeared prominently it has now de that mr carter its ia in charge of the operations of the compa company so far as the he work at this end of the tha line is concerned tle the mining company have also inherited from the florence mining company the services vices of richard pope who as we sill all know has had a vast amount of experience in copper aming in this section of country the two above mentioned gentlemen have just made a visit to the p property and have made a careful elamin examination taking accurate measurements of the ore wies bodies and taking samples from all parts upon their return they called at this office and in compliance with a terser cr re request qu tt e of the express man to give him an idea of the general genera I 1 character of this property they open ed up as they had promised to do and opened our eyes a little as they related the following story which sounds more like fiction than fact but the veracity of the gentlemen ia i s above question it would also be impossible to tina find moisi more conservative men than they are we W wish also to may eay that we have verified the data and figures herein from the report of the he property made by richard pope as mining engineer to the company the property pro perty ix in situated about abou t six miles in p westerly direction from the tha ouray agency across or south of the duchesne river in a range of low hills hilla several deep gulches cut these hills and its as the ore bodies or beins are true blanket formations X ii v edges are exposed the eddres of the show on three sides of the particular hill which the mining c now own there is every reason to believe that these veins extend farough brough the hill which is a hal flat topped mesa rising to a height of feet above the surround ing country it if such auch is tate cue case it is almost impossible to com complete comp plute tute the value of the great deposit so BO enon nois ceis is it however ur mr pope who ho hag had much experience in this particular kind of worx work has 4 a ou efel computation figuring against rhe property where there were doubtful points his computation is that there are tons long of ore in sight in the upper or top vein stone this calculation Is a based on the supposition that the ore extends orly fifty feet feat into the hill however mr pope in his hia characteristic cautious manner adds no man can see a quarter of an inch underground it may not go the fifty feet he also fears that the property will prove and uncertain notwithstanding the magnificent ant surface showing the face of the hill where the deep gulcher cut it is exposed a perpendicular height of feet cut squarely by the action of the floods of ages in the face of the hill there are four distinct ore lines or mineral bearing veins these are not regular but vary somewhat in size they in fact range from small pockets and seams up to ore bodies of considerable size the ile largest one being the top vein or ore line which is 13 situated down from the top of the hill 25 feet it is a strata a t r a t a of mineralized material mat crial a blanket formation ten feet in thickness but containing two sheets of waste material the two being about four fou r feet hick leaving an average thickness of aix oix ix feet four inches of actual ore forty five feet below the large vein is another ore line but too small to be of value again 90 feet below the small vein is the second one in importance it is ia a mineralized minera lied strata four f feet e et in thickness but the ore averages only eighteen inches thick along a face eight hundred feet in length the lowest vein of all is fully fifty feet below the eighteen inch vein and only about 15 feet above the mesa or surrounding country and though it shows in two different gulches several hundred feet apart still some development work will be necessary before its size and extent can be ascertained besides these four distinct ore lines there are various other seams and pockets too small to be of value mr pope la Is of the opinion that notwithstanding the fact that the ore shows about equally strong on three sides of the hill and nature has blocked it out placing it apparently in right eight still the company should make assurance doubly sure by doing a large amount of development work before putting in an extensive plant for treating the ore the mine is situated just two and one half miles milea from green river and when the leaching plant for working the mine is 13 installed water will be pumped from the river the process by which the ore will wi ll 11 most likely be treated will be a leaching process and at present the owners consider it cheaper to pump water than to move the ore to the river nver there is also a large body of cottonwood timber at the river which will answer for alf wac etc in addition to the ore on the property of the mining company almost the entire body of land acres selected by the florence mining company is mineralized to a bout about the same extent that the portion which has fallen to the mining ining M company is there are also a number of claims owned by private individuals situated in that vicinity so from present indications there aill ill be something doing over there in the early spring A new mining camp will suddenly spring into existence the officers of the company are gei F timms president washington D C charlea S carter vice vicc preal dent vernal utah walter K barton
