The EA addresses the UTNGs proposal to establish an LTA near Vemal, Utah. The purpose of the Proposed Action is to perform limited training activities at a local leased training site. The action is needed to reduce travel time for local units, personnel, and equipment that must otherwise be transported to more distant training sites. Army regulations stipulate that travel time should not exceed 25 percent of time committed to training. The action is also needed to ensure optimal training and military readiness objectives of UTNG units in support of national security requirements. The EA evaluates the environmental and socioeconomic impacts of the proposed action. The FNSI records the UTNGs determination that the Proposed Action would have no significant impact on the environment. The UTNG will hold a public meeting on the Proposed Action presented in the EA in Vemal, Utah: Location: Western Park Conference Center Address: 300 East 200 South, Vemal Utah 84078 Time: 7:00 p.m. Date: April 29, 2003 Copies of the Draft FNSI and EA showing the analysis are available for review at the following location: Uintah County library, 155 East Main, Vemal, Utah 84078-269- 5.
