UMTA piano festival recognizes local artists The Utah Music Teachers Association annual piano festival presented on April 28 at Uintah High School, recognized the best of the Basin's young pianists. The judges this year were Gary Amano and Luke Hancock from Utah State University. Amano is the administrator pf the piano department whose students have received national recognition all over the U.S. Hancock completed his undergraduate un-dergraduate degree at USU in piano performance and is now a graduate student. A luncheon in their honor was presented at the Chantilly Manor in Layton. The bride is the daughter of Ralph and Lila McMullin of Roosevelt. She is retiring after teaching for 25 years for the Davis Da-vis School District in Kaysville. She served for two years in the Taiwan Taipei Mission. The groom is the son of Keith and Marilyn Davis of St. George. He is employed by the Nevada. Department of Corrections. He served for two years in the Taiwan Taipei Mission. The couple will make their home in Ely, Nev. Irina Potemkina and Clark Whitton have chosen to be married mar-ried April 26 in Provo. A reception recep-tion in their honor was presented that evening from 3 to 4 p.m. The bride is the daughter of Ivan and Valentina Potemkinykh of Chelyabinsk, Russia. She graduated from Chelyabinsk State University. The groom is the son of Leslie and Annie Whitton of Provo. He graduated from Brigham Young University. The first part of the program includes an exciting Creation Seminar for all ages beginning Sunday, June 1, with three sessions ses-sions at 10 to 11 a.m., 11 a.m. to noon, and 6 to 7 p.m.; and Monday through Thursday at 7 to 8 p.m. A final seminar will be presented Friday from 6 to 7:30 p.m.. Richard Stepanek of the Alpha Omega Institute in Grand Junction, Colo., is the featured speaker. The second part of the Creation Week program is Vacation Bible School featuring featur-ing Dino Detectives for ages 4-13 with games, crafts, Bible stories, snacks, puppets and songs where kids learn about God's creation. Trevor Lee Harbison of Vernal graduated May 3 summa cum laude with a bachelor's of accountancy from Southern Utah University in Cedar City. Trevor was also selected by the university provost as Outstanding Scholar for the School of Business and addressed his peers at the commencement activities. He will be returning to SUU in the fall to pursue a master's of accountancy. Kristin Spring Bradley has been called to serve an 18-month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She will serve in the California Los Angeles Mission, Spanish-speaking. Kristin is the daughter of Michael and Kim Bradley She spoke in the Naples 2nd LDS Ward on May 25.
